I think I might be a few years too late but if you are still active I may have some information.

John Potter and Mary Anne Murphy were my great-great-great-grandparents and I still live in Ireland not too far from where they were from.

I have information on their children and even grandchildren including some dates!

Hope this might help!

Okay no problem. I never really searched this side of my family before until yesterday where I found lists and lists of names in my grandmother's house!
I still speak to a lot of my third cousins etc who emigrated to Canada long before I was born and I've met them many times!

Hi Ben!  Do your Potter Family have any connection to the Potter family below?

Sarah Annie Mathews who married John Potter in Dublin, was the sister of my great great Grandfather!

Marriage Notice
1851
3 May
Clonmel Tipperary Free Press Newspaper
John Potter, eldest son of the late Rev. Robert Potter, Incumbent of Louisburgh, to Sarah Annie, daughter of the late Henry Maxwell Mathews Esq. of Newbridge, County Westmeath.

Cheers
Jeanne😄

Thank you so much Dathai!  It's really great to have a decent image of this marriage!  All I have is a very faint printout of it from a microfilm at my local LDS centre!  So it's really super that I now have a great image to add to my tree! Fantastic !!

I'm pretty sure that Robert Potter, the father of the groom, (the Clerk in Holy Orders) is the Robert Potter who went on to become a Canon in Melbourne!

Thank you again!

Cheers
Jeanne 😄

Modified to add...sorry to hijack the thread mmcc, but another John and Robert Potter father and son??  Who knows,my word, they may turn out to be related!!

Yes, definitely right there with Phoebe and WIlliam, and another lovely image thank you, just as with Sarah, I only have a faded printout of it!  Same for John Gibbons Mathews, their brother, who married Mary Jane Fleming.

Love to find a marriage for Henry Maxwell Mathews, their father too, as I only have a christian name for her, another Sarah Annie.

As a matter of fact, I currently have a scavenger hunt going for this family, over in the Common Room, you may like to have a look at that -  love to have you join in. Link below

Thanks again,
Jeanne 😄
