Hi There,
Please can someone out there, who might know if theres a death index for the UK for 2005-NOW.
A friend of mine, whos not to clever with the computers, has asked me to help her on finding any information on her father, who walked out on the family in 1948ish.
We recently received information he died after 2005, his name is Edward William Worton(RAF) born 1921 Dublin, Ireland.
Kind Regards
Gary

Does anyone know if there are plans to add BMD entries to the present? 2005 is starting to look like a long time ago.
-
Do you mean online?
GRO indexes after 2005 are not available online and can only be viewed at certain locations.
This is expected to continue until free, online access can be provided.

As far as I know there are no plans to put the more recent datasets online.
There is no legal remit for them to be put online as long as the GRO make their data available on fiche at several locations.

As he was born in Ireland, could he have gone home and died there?
-
Is there such a thing as a "UK Death Index"? Leaving that aside there's also the outside chance he died in Scotland. Indexed deaths are available on ScotlandsPeople up to 2009. Deaths to date can be viewed through any Scottish Registrar.
-
There isn't a single UK death index, just separate ones for England & Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The Irish Republic has its own registration system.

Hi,
I have just found this online and I think you are trying to look for my grandfather too. If you have any information about him I would appreciate it, as I'm struggling to find much online.
Thank you
