I am trying to find further information relating to my gggrandparents who were both born in Tralee, County Kerry.
Matthew GALBRAITH b. 1806 m. Sarah CARTER b. 1805. I have no date for their marriage, but they left from Cork, Ireland on the 'Lady McNaughton' on 5 November 1836 with six daughters, three of whom either did not survive the voyage or died shortly after arrival in Australia. They arrived at Port Jackson 26 February 1837.
I have possible parents for Matthew.
Father - John GALBRAITH
Mother - Elizabeth (surname not given).
This is as given on Matthew's baptism record 18 April 1806.
Can anyone help to determine if this is Matthew's parents, what his mother's surname was, and possibly find Sarah's parents as well, please. Thanking everyone in advance for your assistance.

and here's that baptism record for Mathew - no mother's maiden surname. This is normal for Church of Ireland baptisms.
Baptism of Mathw Galbraith - 18 April 1806 (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/b2def00015296)

I dont see any likely John Galbraith Church of Ireland marriages in Kerry to anyone named Elizabeth...

Thanks Shane. At least I now know when they were married. My ggrandmother was named for one of the daughters who didn't survive the voyage to Australia. I suppose it was a really treacherous trip way back then.

Thanks very much for that, Tara. I hadn't known that Matthew had any siblings.

I am also g-g-grandaughter of Matthew Galbraith b.1806 in Tralee Ireland (a shoemaker). If you're still on this site I would love to know his fathers name and birth/death dates? (and mother if you found this).

Matthew's birth details are on this site
https://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie
There are two entries
For one the Register has not yet been imaged
Father John Galbraith
Mother Elizabeth????
I think you will be able to get a copy of the register by following up and purchasing using reference in the entry
Book Number Page Entry Number Record_Identifier
1 41 N/R KY-CI-BA-15297
The second entry has the register imaged.
From same site an Elizabeth Galbraith dies aged 85 in 1869. Not imaged yet but could be worth a look. She would be of an age to be Matthew's mother
