Title: Jane Flanders of Roxton COMPLETED
Post by: Bunnygirl on Saturday 10 December 11 11:56 GMT (UK)
Hi
I.m trying to find information on Jane Flanders b abt 1800 in Roxton,
She was married to James Trowman/Trueman from Cardington Beds.
I would like to find her baptism and marriage records, she declares on 1851 & subsequent census that she was born in Roxton. She died in Cardington 1884. 1st child baptized Cardington 0ct 1827.

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated

Cardington marriages post 1812 aren't on either the IGI or BVRI. You need to check the microfilm of Cardington parish register at your nearest LDS Family History Centre, or at Bedfordshire Archives, whichever is nearer.

There's no baptism of a Jane Flanders (how did you get her maiden name without her marriage - her children all seem to have been born prior to 1837?) in Roxton although a Samuel and Mary Flanders baptised two daughters in 1792 and 1806, and Samuel and Elizabeth baptised a daughter in 1794. Plenty of time for other children.

Hi John
A fellow researcher gave me her name as Jane Flanders and I was just trying to verify it.  He also has a date of marriage as 15 Sept 1826 but no place !!!

Thanks

There's a posting dated 31 Jan 2006 that suggests James Trueman & Jane Flanders as being parents of George Trueman 1835

Hi John ,
Yes thanks for that link. George Trueman was my Great Grandfather with his son William Arthur my grandfather, I do have the Truemans back to the 1700's and was just trying to verify a few points.
I was aware of Lewis Trueman but this link has given me some up to date information

I am popping in Beds Archives sometime tomorrow so I will take a look at both Cardington & Roxton PRs to see if the marriage is recorded there.  Cheers John

The marriage was at Cardington on 16 Oct 1826 of James Trueman, bachelor to Jane Flanders, spinster, both of this parish by banns that were read on 1/10 & 8/10 & 15/10 1826. Witnesses George Trueman & Sarah White.

Children of James & Jane Trueman baptised at Cardington were ...
William Francis 28 Oct 1827
Thomas 7 Jun 1829
Jane Elizabeth 3 Apr 1831
Lewis 28 Apr 1833
George 20 Sep 1835

James Trueman's occupation was Miller

Hi John
Many thanks your a star.
So Jane was probably living /working in Cardington at time of her marriage to James.
Witnesses George Trueman is James elder brother ... but I'm not too sure about Sarah White, some more research to do!!!!!

Many thanks  again & have a lovely Christmas

Which goes to show that you shouldn't place much reliance on other researchers!

Name was right, date was wrong and there was no place. The date you were given was even before the banns were published!

James Trueman was buried Cardington on 11 Nov 1849 aged 51 so born circa 1798 (ties in with his baptism on 24 Mar 1799)

Jane Elizabeth Trueman was buried 17 Oct 1847 age 16, so she's daughter of James & Jane, baptised 03 Apr 1831
