Title: Plum Jardine ???
Post by: LisaK271 on Monday 12 December 11 17:49 GMT (UK)
I have a few ancestors born or died at Plum Jardine, also spelt Plumjardine or Plum Jordan. It is somewhere in the Southwick are. Can anyone shed some light on this name? Thanks in advance :o)

Hi

On this site:
http://www.kirkyards.co.uk/places.asp?ID=13

Plumjordan is listed as a dwelling. Gives co-ordinates.

If you click the details button, it takes you to a liitle "map app"  ;) - clicking on the satellite map, seems to indicate a farm?

Were all the folks in your tree from Plumjordan (var) closely related? and perhaps from around the same period of time?

Cheers

Thanks for your lightning speed reply :o)

I love Kirkyard but have never noticed this section before so thank you very much, just looking at it now.

My 3rd Great Grandparents both died there, 13 July 1870 and 26th October 1870. Such a short time between them :o( I needed to find an answer as it's been sitting in my head for a couple of years. I was only at Sandy Hills in July, and New Abbey in August, it's so close. Will have to drive by it next time I'm up there. Again, thank you for the help.

Well it appears to be just a house off the A747. They both died of types of cancer, maybe it was a convalescent home or hospice, maybe even a poor house?? I have another that has that location in their vitals but trying to locate them still.
