I have made an assumption through a family tree that my 2nd ggrandmother Mary Corrie (b. 1817 Edinburgh) is the daughter of Clementina Blair Ross (b. 1801 Midlothian) & Thomas Corrie (b. 1791 Midlothian).
This assumption is related to the similarity of name to her child Clementina Ross Stewart (b. 1848 Twynholme, Kircudbright) daughter of (George Stewart, 1814-1893).
I believe this is so, but have no evidence, except of Mary Corrie's husband and children as per Burke's & the Peerage.com.
Best regards,

Certainly there is a Mary Corrie baptised 29 Nov 1816 in Edinburgh - daughter of Thomas Corrie and Clementine Blair Ross of St Andrew's Parish.
Send me a PM. ;)

Mary Corrie married George Stewart - 12 Sep 1843 - Liberton Parish Mid Lothian.
They have 5 children before 1855 - I haven't looked further with the newer records .These are baptismal records I presume -
Leveson George - 3 Jan1845
Thomas Corrie 10 Aug 1846
Clementine Ross 2 Feb 1848
Keith 6 Dec 1851
James Dalrymple 19 Sep 1853
Haven't looked at originals for more than Mary's birth. And I haven't looked at the 'post statutory' records after 1855 yet

Because the way things were recorded after that, I can't see the parents of these next two without using my depleting credits :
so these girls are possibles
Elizabeth Stewart b 1855 Twynholm GROS 883/00 0014
Isabella Lydia Stewart b 1858 Twynholm GROS 883/00 0006

I can't find George and family in the census in 1851 or 1861.
Sad that - thought I was on a roll there! ;) :D

You are a sweetheart.
I do have records of George Stewart and Mary Corrie's children, as he is listed in the Peerage.com.
Spouse & Children
Mary Corrie
1816 –
Leveson Douglas Stewart
1844 – 1916
Thomas Corrie Stewart
1846 – 1907
Clementina Ross Stewart
1848 – 1908
Keith Stewart
1851 – 1938
James Dalrymple Hay Stewart
1853 – 1914
Isabella Lydia Stewart
1858 –
What is difficult to find are the spouses of the Stewarts, which is why I was guessing at the mother of Mary Corrie.
Thank you for birthdate of Mary Corrie and the confirmation of her mother's name.

If you don't mind, I prefer to keep all my communications on Roots Chat. I find I need to limit my self for ancestry searching as it does use up a lot of time.
You are right what a fabulous site. Members are very helpful.
Thank you Wiggy for all your suggestions, I did add the birthdates to my Ancestry.ca tree.
Best regards,
Alleson

Keeping you communications to Rootschat is fine - but you can't look for yourself on this site!
- that's why you need to have other sites - for looking! ;D ;D
Glad to have been of assistance!

Dear Allesond
I have recently begun researching my Family Tree and it seems we have a common great great great .... grandmother.... Clementina Blair Ross.
In my researches I have come across a copy of a family tree that was composed some time ago headed "Share of Residue ....", which I got from my granddad's estate. I would be happy to scan and email it to you, if it would be of any assistance.
I have also found your family tree on ancestry.com ... it would appear that my great grandfather was Cecil Francis Stewart.
Anyways, let me know if you would like me to scan the aforementioned document.
Regards
Malcolm

Hello, everyone.
I too am researching this line. I have a little bit of information on this particular Ross family stretching back to a Gilbert Ross who died in 1637. I'm in the process of verifying some of it after piecing it together from old books and various records. I realize that the old books which sometimes list genealogies cannot always be relied on, specifically when listing maiden names, but so far I think I've got much of the family tree correct.
I would be happy to exchange information with anyone who is interested. Thanks!

Hi Alleson,
I've come across some of these names at NAS.
Were your Blairs the Blairs of Dunskey? This record makes me think they could be.
