I've done a quick search on RC and don't see this mentioned before.
A new cousin in Oz sent me the link ::) You'd think I should know more about our own local resources.
Anyway, it's a great wee search engine. In the past hour, I have found 10 newspaper notices relating to people that are almost certainly in my family in Wick, Cathness.
You have to request the actual images. However, you can request up to 10 at a time. It's free but will depend on the librarians how quickly you receive response.
I was going to post this on the Caithness board but there are papers covering other northern counties too.
Well worth a look.
Generally an interesting site, as well as being useful for the newspaper search.
Hope everyone has a great 2012.
I'm off to celebrate Hogmanay. Speak to you during 2012.

You're welcome. Hope you get some results from it.
I should have said, you have to request the actual images. However, you can request up to 10 at a time. It's free but will depend on the librarians how quickly you receive response.

Sorry buckie, I couldn't resist that.
I wish there were more searchable sites like this. One never knows though, resources continue to turn up out of the blue.

Thanks for the links Dave. Sure they willl prove very useful..... :D :D

I'm sure they will.
Helping me already.
Having said that, I've not had a reply from 'them' yet.
I'm not overly concerned though; it's a busy time of the year, catching up on holidays etc.
I'll let folk know when I get the response - I DID ask for 10 records first time out!

PS Emmeline, Emma Louisa Tricker is a lovely looking girl. If you've inherited a quarter of her looks...........................

Thank you Dave. Not the first comment I have had from Rootschat users about Emma Louisa - my mother's
mother.
Three of her children were daughters and all good -lookers ;) The youngest is still alive at 92 and lives in
Australia on the Gold Coast.
We like to think that some of her 17 grand-children have inherited ( as you say) a quarter of her good
looks and now we are on to her great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren ::) ::)
Regards......
