Following on from my previous posting

I am trying to find the marriage of Colin Henry BIGGIN and Daisy Florence (?), both died in Brisbane 1993. Colin was born in Horsham Vic 1908 and by 1930's was living in NSW. I have tried searching for his marriage in both Victoria and NSW, but with no success. Unfortunately I do not know the maiden name of Daisy Florence.
I have the birth certificate of his granddaughter which states his son Thomas Heywood BIGGIN deceased 2005 was born in Lismore 1939.
Have tried every search variation but coming up zilch ::). Would be grateful of any assistance.

There is a very brief family tree info on a subscription site that suggests that Daisy Florence was Daisy Florence Vidler.
There is no marriage date info at all.
There is though, a birth on the NSW BDM site for a Daisy F Vidler in 1908 Registration at Murwillumbah.

Many thanks, at least I now may have have a surname for Daisy Florence as the NSW birth in 1908 matches her cemetery records in Brisbane.
Very strange no marriage anywhere.
Update just found this entry
Daisy F Vidler was born 7 Jan 1908 in Murwillumbah. She was the daughter of 2. Herbert Ebenezer Vidler and 3. Ada Blanche Boxsell. She married Vincent Jones. She married Colin Biggin.
I can find her marriage to Vincent F Jones in 1924 at Murwillumbah - strange it is listed twice Reg 8702 & 8709. Still cannot find her marriage to Colin Biggin !

There is a Daisy Florence Jones and A Vincent Francis Jones residing at Condong Rd, Murwillumbah in the 1936 Electoral Roll.
Add, and 1937.

Hi Gerry,
You are narrowing the gap if they were still together in 1936 then the marriage to Colin Biggin must have occured 1937-39 as Thomas Biggin was born 1939 in Lismore. mmmmmmh

If Florence and Vincent did not divorce, then possibly there is no marriage to find for Florence and Colin Henry Biggin.
WW2 enlistments have numerous Vidlers born northern coastal areas NSW, and many enlisted in Queensland.
Also, just for interest -
Alan Biggin, b. 16 Jun 1912, Hoptourn, Vic, enlisted Coffs Harbour...maybe a brother?

I see there is a NSW death registration for a Leslie John Jones, father Vincent & mother, Daisy Florence.

Yes I saw the death of Leslie John Jones with parents being Vincent and Daisy. So it looks like they separated 1937-1943.

1933, 1936, 1937 electoral rolls show these people all with the address Dunbible, Murwillumbah

Linton Roy BIGGIN, planter (not in 1936)
Sarah Margaret BIGGIN, hd
The next electoral roll, as found by Gerry, is dated 1943 and shows Colin Henry BIGGIN, mechanic and Daisy Florence BIGGIN, hd at Princes Highway, Geards Hill (near or in Wollongong I think)
As wivenhoe says it is possible that they did not marry at all.

Slowly getting the pieces of the puzzle together, I apologise for having to ask for just one more lookup of Australian electoral rolls for 1980 . I think I have found the couple and their son Thomas. Not sure why there are two entries?

The Richmond Electoral District entries have all 3 at 6 Tincogan rd, Mimbmby (sic) while the Werriwa Electoral District address for Colin & Daisy is Coates Park Rd, Cobty (sic)

Oh, sorry - I didn't read it carefully! They seem to have moved about a bit! You have 1943 so here are the next ones that are online. All are for Colin Henry and Daisy Florence BIGGINS. Occupation for Daisy is consistently home duties so I have only listed for Colin

The Mullumbimby entry is a 'supplementary' roll so my guess is that they moved to Mullumbimby for Cobbitty.
(I pass the end of the street in Lyneham almost every day - the house would be the same as the one there now which you can find on Googlemap! ;)

Just looking at Thomas Heywood BIGGIN.
I see him in 1968 still at Lyneham ACT (occupation 'lub op'),with Faith Hilda Grace BIGGIN; they are at 133 Goodwin St which is next door to Colin Henry BIGGIN, clerical assistant, who is still at 131 Goodwin St. No mention of Daisy :-\
T H BIGGIN 's next entry is the 1980 one in Mullumbimby.

Nice find Sue.
Highfield was a Boarding House in McLeod St Cairns at that time and maybe Vincent was in Cairns as part of the War effort where many landing craft and vessels were built along Smith's Creek for the US and Australian Forces, with Vincent being a Sawyer his skills would have been needed.

Sue, in 1943 Daisy is using the surname BIGGIN and is with Colin at Geards Hill,NSW.
I feel that it's very likely there was no formal marriage and that she and Colin left Murwillumbah to go south together - only my opinion though - no proof! They may have married much later after a divorce for Daisy and Vincent, or perhaps Vincent's death, or they may have lost touch with Vincent altogether. Divorce was quite expensive and you had to prove wrong-doing on the part of your spouse or wait many years for separation to be used as the reason for divorce.
Wonder if the son Leslie kept in touch with either of them :-\
Eilidh, if you have the dates of death for Daisy and Colin I'm happy to look up Qld papers and see if there are death notices for them. Someone else may be able to find them earlier though as I won't be at the library till next week now.

Yes I now believe that Colin and Daisy didnt marry until much later (if in fact they did). I was very interested to see that Vincent Francis Jones was in Cairns, will have to delve a little further.
Yes I did find the possible birth and article in Trove :)
Both Colin and Daisy died in Brisbane - Colin Henry Biggin 4th March 1993 aged 85 years and Daisy Florence Biggin four months later on 16th July 1993 also aged 85 years.
Once again I really appreciate all your assistance, from nothing to all this information :)

I am Colin and Daisy's younger child Jacqueline born in 1946 and can probably help you with missing details. Colin and Daisy raised the 5 children from Daisy' first marriage and had Thomas and myself. As far as I know I am the only surviving child. I only had personal contact with Vincent David, Lesley John and Fay from Daisy's first marriage. I still have close contact with Fay and Les' children. My understanding is that Daisy and Colin were unable to contact Vincent Jones or find out his whereabouts until about 1975-76. My understanding is that they traced him eventually to Charters Towers and found that he had died. They then married about 1975-76 in Coffs Harbour and their witnesses were Colin's brother Alan and Alan's wife, Edna. I still have contact with Alan's son, also named Alan. Colin and Daisy were loving caring parents and are sorely missed. God bless them both. Hope this helps. Jackie

I am Thomas Heywoods daughter no 5 of 6 girls. Daisy and Colin only married after my father had a catastrophic car accident in 1972 where he lost the front lobes of his brain. They took over care of him after my mother devorced him . Leaving his 6 children destitute never to receive any bdy cards or xmas cards ever. No support for his children . I only met Jackie biggin Martin after my fathers death. Daisy's children from Jones marrige were in childrens homes in there childhood..
