my gr.granfather was dr.james hayes anglim (1867-1950) tagoat wexford.we think his father jeremiah???may come from limerick (candle or soap manufactures) also had relations in waterford/&tipperary any one else out there trying to trace them?????

Hi Eileen,
I have found a Jeremiah Anglim born abt. 1836 married to a Catherine (Kate) and the lived at 22 William St. in Limerick city. Family owned a Soap Shop. Children are: James b. Abt. 1869; William Joseph b. Abt. 1876, Thomas b. Abt. 1882. Anna Maria b. Abt 1872, Nora b. 1874.
James a physician married Emily Gertrude Swaby and lived at Ballyregan. and had the following children; Margaret b. Abt 1900; Monica Ita b. Abt 1902; Seila Alice b. Abt 1905; Jeremiah Patrick b. Abt 1907; *James Robert b. Abt 1908 lived at 'Orchard Park'; Thomas Joseph b. Abt 1909; William Kevin b. Abt 1911; Mary Rose and Lily.
* Married Margaret Kinsella Ballyconlore Sep 1937.

Anglin memorial in Selskar Abbey, Wexford reads:
"Erected by Rebecca Anglin
in memory of her husband James Anglin who departed this life 17th December 1881
aged 76 years
also her six infant children
also her sons
John and Thomas lost at sea
her beloved daughter Annie Maria
died Jan 31st 1890
the above Rebecca Anglin
died Dec 9th 1899 aged 81"
Presumably they are related in some way?

A further memorial uncovered in cemetery of Selskar Abbey, Wexford a short while ago
John Anglin
died 15th January
1846
Also his two Sisters
Sarah Stevenson who died June 12 1879
aged 77 yrs. And Mary Anglin
died Feb 16th 1886 aged 74 yrs
The latter bequeathed a large sum of money
to the Parish of Wexford and
to the poor of the town without
religious distinction.
There are 2 other graves in the Anglin enclosure - if I get inscriptions for these I will post them also.

died September 13th 1836 Aged 69 years

ROBERT ANGLIN of Wexford
who died May 10th 1875
aged 77 years
This tomb was erected by his sisters

See attached extract from Freemans Journal (Aug 16th 1825) confirming year of death (assuming it was Wednesday night/Thursday morning - 11th August was a Thursday!)

Gretta Anglim married a Richard Vincent Doyle, so I’m a Doyle. My father Vincent Doyle is from Wexford. Are you based in Ireland? I am married and live in the US.

I’m new to rootschat and don’t really know how to use it. If you get this,my great grandfather was also James Hayes Anglim. My grandmother Gretta (Margaret) Anglim married a Doyle.
