Hello,
Could I possibly ask for a Victorian electoral lookup please.
1914
Name: Mary Josephine Davidson
Residence: 1914 - city, Melbourne Ports, Victoria
I am hoping that she is at the same address as;
Name: Alexander Henderson Davidson
Residence: 1914 - city, Melbourne Ports, Victoria
1919
I can then see in 1919 three possible entries for Mary Josephine DAVIDSON but am confused to the Senior and Junior references in the latter two
Name: Mary Josephine Davidson
Residence: 1919 - Melbourne West, Melbourne, Victoria
Name: Mary Josephine Davidson Senior
Residence: 1919 - city, Melbourne Ports, Victoria
Name: Mary Josephine Davidson Junior
Residence: 1919 - city, Melbourne Ports, Victoria
Many thanks for any assistance.

Alexander Henderson Davidson is at 143 Montague Street, SM, pastry cook in 1914. At same address is Christian Morrison Davidson, home duties, F.
Mary Josephine Davidson, 6 McCormack St, Port Melbourne, confectioner in 1914.
1919 - Mary Josephine Davidson Snr & Jnr, 6 McCormack St, PM, (Snr =Confect & Jnr = Whitewr). No male Davidson at address. Again, the same, n 1926.
A Mary Josephine Davidson born in Melbourne in 1893 to John Davidson & Mary Dowling.
Mary Josephine is at 585 King St, W Melbourne, home duties in 1919 - no other Davidson there.
In 1936 - Alexander Henderson Davidson, Symmonds St, Bittern, Missionary - also - Marguerita Alyss Davidson, home duties.
Hope that helps,
:)

Hello Gerry & Jo
Many thanks for all your information, it has certainly helped me a lot. I will now be able to eliminate the Mary Josephine DAVIDSON living at McCormack Street.
I had been told that Alexander Henderson DAVIDSON's first wife Christian died in 1913 South Melbourne but you have confirmed that she was still alive in 1914 living with him at 143 Montague St, South Melbourne.
The Mary Josephine living at 585 King St, W Melbourne, home duties in 1919 - no other Davidson there was his second wife. The other residents should have been FALLON's her parents. Alexander Henderson DAVIDSON was in the Canadian forces WW1 and obviously had not returned back to OZ.
The Marguerita Alyss DAVIDSON in 1936 was Alexander Henderson DAVIDSON's third wife :)
bye and thanks once again :)

Hi Jo,
Yes I had found Alexander's second wife death notice on Trove, many thanks.
You wouldnt happen to know what month the 1914 and 1919 electoral rolls were held in Victoria. Googling is coming up with a big zilch, no day, month - just year.

This may be Christian's death:
1913 #10617
Christian Mitchell (sic) DAVIDSON,31
Death Place: South Melbourne, Victoria
Father's Name: Roxburgh Jno
Mother's Name: Annabella Morrison
Given her mother's surname I think the 'Mitchell' is an error.
Electoral rolls were more difficult to keep up-to-date in the past and she may just not have been taken off by the time the 1914 roll was published. The election was held in September but I don't know when the rolls closed.

Morning Judith and Gerry,
Judith, thanks for confirming 1913 was the correct date for Christian Mitchell DAVIDSON's death. When she was listed on 1914 electoral roll with her husband I thought :o what's going on here. Her name was definitely Christain Mitchell as I purchased her marriage certificate from Scotlandspeople which stated her parents as John Roxburgh and Annabella Morrison. Looks like the 1914 was an oversight and she had not been taken off.
Gerry, yes Mary Josephine was living with her parents for 1919 electoral roll whilst husband Alexander was overseas. Once again I would be very interested to know the month the 1919 electoral roll was held- would tie up a few loose ends for me :)
Thanks for all your help

E,
I have found in Queensland that many of the Electoral Rolls on microfiche very often have the electoral roll date at the start of the subdivision heading.
Why not try the ask a librarian service with the State Library of Victoria to have a look for you.

Hi Everyone
I've just rejoined and am interested in Alexander Henderson Davidson and Christian Morrison Roxburgh.
Did they go to NZ first?
And have daughters Annabella and Catherine?
