Title: Norfolk Littlewoods
Post by: ajtj01 on Sunday 22 January 12 17:01 GMT (UK)
Does anyone know who the father of John Littlewood, (born in 1819/21 in Filby), was? he is shown living with a Mary (Ann) Littlewood in 1841 and a mary Littlewood in 1851, were they married pre 1841 or could the earlier Mary Ann be his sister. At the moment this is where the trail ends.

Hi

Filby PR's are available online at

http://www.rootschat.com/links/0jx5/

There are baptisms for Sarah (1820) and James (1822) to Robert and Elizabeth Littlewood but I couldn't find John.

Robert Littlewood married Elizabeth Hall 12 Oct 1813 at Burgh St Margaret.

In the 1851 census John Littlewood and Mary had a 10 year old son (William born Gt Yarmouth)
there is this marriage in Gt Yarmouth

His father Robert - labourer
Her father William - labourer

They have children mothers maiden name Everitt
William 1842 registered as John in GRO

John Littlewood married 2nd Hannah Rachel Swanson 8 May 1860 St John, Lowestoft Suffolk England
His father Robert Littlewood
Her father George Horth

So in between the death of William Tice Hannah marries a Swanson

Note Hannah Tice is with her family 1851 with children but no husband William Tice.

ADDED
There may be a transcription error between Swanson and Lawson, I have not found the originals yet to see which one got it wrong.
Hannah Rachel Tice married George Lawson 3 February 1856 Great Yarmouth

Updated
The Great Yarmouth entry is definitely LAWSON both are widowed

Getting back to your original question: when John marries 1840 Mary Everett he says his father is Robert Littlewood and a witness is Elizabeth possibly his mother or a sister.
