Title: COMPLETED Baptised in Evenjobb?
Post by: Jaybeebuzz on Friday 17 February 12 23:12 GMT (UK)
Hi everyone

I am trying to find out more details on my gg grandmother Elizabeth DAVIES. Not an easy job with a surname like that in Wales! Censuses consistently give her birth year as c.1867, and a place of birth as Evenjobb, Radnorshire. I was wondering where she was likely to have been baptised? I have found that there is a church in Evenjobb, St Peter's, but it may not have opened until 1870. Was there another church in the village prior to St Peter's or is she likely to have been baptised in a neighbouring village/town? Also, what denomination was/is St Peter's or any other church anyone may suggest?

Many thanks for your help. I'm running out of ideas (and patience!).
Julie

To complete this topic, I contacted Powys RO who told me that Evenjobb came under Old Radnor parish and was later sub-divided  into Evancoyd parish. Records at Powys and Hereford RO's.
