Title: Thomas Waring b. Frolesworth c 1722 COMPLETED
Post by: ozcanucka on Sunday 04 March 12 11:28 GMT (UK)
Hello,
I'm looking for a Thomas Waring, born Fro(w)lesworth, possibly Claybrooke / Ullesthorpe, about 20 years before his marriage of 1748 to Mary Whight (also of Frolesworth). IGI gives a 1722 Thomas, but it's a submitted record.

Any help warmly appreciated.

Many thanks, Mike!

And at the risk of wearing out the welcome you so kindly proferred...allow me lay out my quest.

I'm having difficulty deciding where to put my energy in the search for Thomas.

100 years later, around 1822, Thomas' descendants end up as carpenters in Patishall / Bugbrooke (Northants). Now there are Warin/Warren carpenters from Bugbrooke back several centuries, so an origin in Bugbrooke looks attractive, but I haven't been able to get from my Thomas Warings in the 1700s to them [1600s and earlier]. So I may be trying to invent a connection that isn't there.  On the other hand, this Claybrooke Thomas Waring looks so close, so likely. Perhaps I should just  assume that flitting back and forth between Frowlesworth and Bugbrooke was unlikely, given the rigours of travel of the time.

A search to confirm either hypothesis will involve some dusty archival research, so I hope my shilly-shallying is understandable.

I don't suppose you see any other Warings that could be this Thomas's parents in Claybrooke? If there were a few more Warings there, I might see a familiar forename.

Sigh, clutching at straws...

Thanks again for all this, Mike.

I've found some Warens in Claybrooke in the 1600s and 1700s (which is a common variation of the name Waring in that period), and I have a descendant naming one son John Waring DODGE - after one ggrandfather, and the next son Webster DODGE after ggrandmother?, so it looks like the Claybrooke connection is worth pursuing.  Thanks for your help.
