Title: Oliver Street Stockport

Would anybody have a photograph of Oliver Street in Stockport?  This street was full of terraced 2 up 2 downs and the houses were totally demolished in the seventies, to make way for Stockport College.

Oliver Street ran behind the now Stockport College just off the A6.  The majority of my ancestors all lived on this street including my mum, grandma, aunts, uncles and great grandparents.  A photograph would make my mum's year. Ive tried everywhere online that I can think of. Thanks in anticipation.

Stockport Image Archive have a few photos of Oliver St but it says "Image coming soon". You could email them & ask

I wonder whether you succeeded in finding pictures of Oliver Street? I'm trying to find illustrations for my own family history story, in which Oliver Street has a walk-on part. When I was five or six (early to mid 1950s) my grandmother took me from her home in the Shaw Heath area to Oliver Street, to a particular confectioner's. My grandmother came from a family of bakers and confectioners, and was very particular about baked goods. The custard slices sold in the Oliver Street shop were her favourites. I can (sort of) see the shop in my mind's eye ...

Only two postings and two and a half years since their last visit, I think they've gone!

The Stockport image archive only has one photo of Oliver Street so it might not be much use.

I used to live at number 37 next to the college. And have a photo taken outside that house. I have tried to put it on but without success .
