Hi Kevin

If you are not already, may I suggest that you join the Orkney Family

History Society and then when you're in Orkney you can call in and they will

help you. I found them very helpful when I was there Sep 2011. Are you aware

that there is a 1821 census available for Deerness, Orphir, St Andrews, Sandwick

and Stromness. None of that helps with David Louttit's dob but there are valuation rolls

and Church records etc available which may assist you. Some are in the Orkney Library,

some in the Archives and others in the OFHS office. The Archives and OFHS are upstairs

at the library.

Joy

I have an ancestor David Loutit 1781-1863, married Janet Flett and lived Orphir, mainly. His parents were John Loutit and Margaret Irvine.
No known connection with St. Andrews (1851 census has him born Rendall), but perhaps
thse names may connect with some of your Lottit researches.

I have my Louttit part of my family tree all the way back to Piers Louttit born 1424 he had a son named David Louttit there are a few David Louttit’s in the family tree including my dad and my great Papa and a lot more my brick was was and still is since 2015 Piers Louttit in the 1400’s I have a tree on ancestry and even had my DNA tested recently if you ended up finding lots out about the Louttit family tree please let me know I live in Canada my last name is now hifanated (Louttit-Schad) I also noticed in the family tree that lots of relatives connected with (Spence, Sinclair) families I dove in very deep when I started looking for my family tree I’m still finding interesting information about my family tree including a branch that goes to a Bruce but can’t tell if it is of importance or not or if it’s correct but it’s off a woman’s branch married to a Louttit and then off another branch I also found the Murray family related to me just don’t know the importance of the line to me yet as well as the Stewart and Stuart line’s in my tree they stop short and I don’t know how they would link up from what part of the lines it just ends up giving me a headache lol thinking about all of it.
