Title: William Harle - Stationmaster Appleby 1911
Post by: elizabethh on Sunday 18 March 12 17:28 GMT (UK)
I am trying to find out more about William Harle - Station master - Appleby Westmorland in 1911.   He was born in Newcastle in 1855 approximately - 1911 census states his age as 56 with Mary wife and his seven children.  Previously he had been stationmaster at Heddon on the Wall.
I haven't as yet purchased any death certificate as I want to make sure I get the right one.   Any indication of where I may go next would be helpful.  Am also interested in the station as he lived in the station house.

Elizabeth.

There must be lots of pictures of the station.   Frequent steam train trips along that line.  http://www.visitcumbria.com/carlset/appleby-station.htm

Thank-you for the photo of the Station House.
Yes I have the full 1911 census - I also have William Harle's marriage certificate for his marriage to Mary Henderson in 1903 - he was a widower 48 and she a spinster 29.  Children mentioned Wiliam, Sydney and Ernest would appear to be children from his first marriage, whilst Stanley, Muriel and Ridley are from his second marriage.  It looks as if, from the marriage certificate, that he was station-master at Heddon on the Wall at the time of his marriage.
Once again thank-you to everyone.
Elizabeth
