Looking for the parents of John Stilgoe born c 1904. 1841 Census had him living in Swerford. !851 Census gives his birthplace as Wigginton and the later census lists it as Barford. His wife is Jane. I don't know how close are these places . Perhaps someone can enlighten me !

Looking at Google Maps, the two places look quite close together.
Deddington I would think is the link between the two.
I know nothing about Oxfordshire by the way.
familysearch have a few baptims for Stilgoe's in Deddington.

Was Jane his 2nd wife? she is 14 years younger than him.

There is a marriage before this that would fit for first wife

I have looked at the Deddington Stilgoes but I can't find a link. The reference for the 1841 Census for Swerford is HO107/879/18 and he is listed in Ancestry as John STILGA. I'm not sure if John married twice but thanks for the information.

Witnesses at the marriage for John and Mary are Henry East and Mary Stilgoe
There is also this baptism

There is also this burial that might be Mary ( Johns first wife ) :-\

will have Swerford PRs to help you more.... :)

Hi I think i can sort this out for People Jpohn married to Mary East was the illigitemate son of John Stilgoe 1772 his mother was not John's wife Ann but another woman called Elizabeth. Who you will find on his baptism record, John had half brothers and sisters fathered by John and Ann, a half brother Thomas Irons who was born just before John 1772 died at the age of 67. This is confirmed in the Vicars diary of the time that John Stilgoe 1772 played around. In John 1772 will he acknowledges John as his son and John inherits.
The other John born in 1804 approx and married Jane Robbins he was married previously to Elizabeth Palley or Pully currently i am unable to find his parents
