All spellings welcome worldwide.
The Wheaton Surname DNA Project is a year old and we have nearly 30 results from England, USA, Canada and Australia.
We have 3 results from men in England, 2 from Australia and the remainder from USA and Canada. We have connected the Wheadons of America with the Wheadons of Australia and Devon.
The Wheatons of Devon with the Wheatons of Australia.
We have several Wheaton/ Wettons from Staffordhsire.
We have a large group of Wheatons with unusual markers and we would like to find their origins in England. Suspected locales are the Weetons of Lanacshire or the Weedons of Norfolk but it could be anywhere. The men that descend from a Robert Wheaton who came from England to Salem, Massachusetts in 1636. Please help us connect these folks to their ancestors in England! This has been a 40 year odyssey.
FREE testing for select Wheatons (any spelling) of England may be available. Please see my website or contact me.

Glad you have reposted, and all is back to normal.

And thanks for your help! I would have given up without it :)

Lets hope you get some interest in your surname. ;)
This post will come up any time someone googles the surname in the future. Rootschat posts often appear close to the top in google results.
Another thing you might like to try if ever you are hoping to get interest from particular lines is add a bit more detail to this post. For example as well as saying you are looking for Wheaton/Wetton in Staffordshire, you could add some additional place names and even names of people. So if I am looking for John Wheaton b 1798 in Lichfield who married Mary Smith and I typed those names and places into google, you would want your Wheaton DNA Project to come up. It just might help get more hits. I've had some success with this method in my own family research - it would be nice to find that one of my names had a DNA project. ;)

You've already found another possibility, the Surname Interests Table :)
Please be aware that this is not a "smart match" or "active" search method: you can enter your names, and look for others there with your name interests, but it's then up to the users to get in contact with each other.
regards,
Bob

Hi just thought I'd let people know the results of the latest DNA testing
There appears to be FOUR separate Wheaton / Wheadon families in Devon. At first I thought these might represent Non-paternal events but I'm beginning to think otherwise.
Early families

1323 Roger atte Wettene Newton St. Petrock
1323 William Whetena Woolfardisworthy
