On the England and wales Christening records I have a record
Name: Mary Ann White
Father: Gifford White
Birth: abt 1868
Baptism: 13 Sep 1868 - Bluntisham Cum Earith, Huntingdonshire, England
Other: 1868
Any ideas on what other would mean?
Thank you
Jenny from Bribie Island

I don't know about this case, but it usually means something else that appearred on the record from which the transcription was made. If it is a church record for instance it may be something the writer added to help with analysis or reporting of the data. In this particular case it may be affirmation that the year was 1868 as opposed to the "abt".

Hi jenr
This is the transcription from that index
Name: Mary Ann White
Gender: Female
Birth Date: abt 1868
Christening Date: 13 Sep 1868
Christening Place: Bluntisham Cum Earith, Huntingdonshire, England
Father's Name: Gifford White
Mother's Name: Rebecca
There is no sign of 'other' on the actual transcription. As for the 'About' date for date of birth I believe this is just an Ancestry 'default' when no date of birth given.

ADDED - I see that Gifford White had 5 of his children christened on the same date, they all have 1868 against other on the index.
I have just put into the search box on Anc. births marriages and deaths Bluntisham Cum Earith, Huntingdonshire as the parish born and no other information and every record has the year that the christening took place against other. :)
