Any dates?

Who was the father of Sarah, Mary, Lizzie, Julia, Thomas, Laurence and James? (father's name should be shown on marriage certificate of John Timmons which would help to confirm or eliminate a sibling relationship)

The fathers name was Laurence Timmo(i)ns,Sarahs mother was Roseanna Walsh but the other childrens mother was Julia Hayden. The children were born between 1893 &1911,John being the youngest. The Timmons-Mernagh marriage was in 1936,John would have been approx 25,but just clutching at straws, area & age seem right.

If you order the marriage certificate it should list father's name and occupation as well as John's residence at time of marriage which may be a family address known to you.

Hello All,
I am new to rootschat.  Thanks to Moscan I have been reading about Tymon castle trying to fill in the gaps between my Greeeeeeaaate Grandfather John Timmons and stories that were told regarding the castle and I hope family connections.  John Timmons' son (I am beginning to believe there were many John Timmons) was Edward Timmons who immigrated in the early 19th century.  According to my father the old man constantly went on about how "Cromwell burned the castle" so I'm hoping to use that to find people prior to John.
I have no certainty who John married although through Ancestry I have been able to find where he lived in Dublin up until the 1840's.
I am hoping that the John Timmons here is my ancestor so that I can fill in yet another gap.
    Any help??

Hi Natalie, Grandad was born around that time, i remember a few years ago mum saying he would have been 100! From what I've read in these posts it seems very likely. My mum has mentioned uncle Lar (Lawrence); uncle Jack (John?); his wife May, (born a Mernagh); aunt julia and some others. Though, there was also uncle Des (i'm sure it transpired at his funeral that he had been baptised a different name, though i may have that wrong). Mum's grandparents were Lawrence and Julia and there is a vague feeling/memory that her grandfather had been married before.

P.s. Mum's just called and grandad, we think was born in 1906.P

Hi 01 lizzie,Sarah (known as Frances) was my m-i-l,her mother was Rosanna she died & Lawerence married Julia. They then had Mary,Lizzie,Julia,Thomas,Laurence,James & John.Frances  married John McDonald & had 4 sons,John,Martin,Dermot(my husband) & Cyril(known as Joe)John stayed in Ireland but the other 3 came to England.Frances never spoke to us about her family so we have no idea what happened to any of them. Are you in touch with any other family members?are you in Ireland?we live in Portsmouth,Joe lives in Wiltshire but John & Martin have both died. When you said about a Des John(my b-i-l) had added Desmond as a middle name, prehaps after someone in the family. My husband & your mum will be cousins, this is so exciting.Hope you will let us know where & when the family went to.

Don't know where to start - this is so exciting!!! I know a fair few of the family, the majority of those I know are in the uk, though some are in Ireland (some still in Rathdrum). I hope your husband is sitting down, I can think of about 14 of his first cousins (still alive) just off the top of my head right now. Most of those have at least two children and then there's the next generation too......! Most are scattered around the Southeast of England, London, Surrey, Kent and a few elsewhere.  One of Mum's cousins has an incredible memory of their childhood, so I'll give him a ring over the weekend and see what he remembers hearing about his grandad's first family. Take care & speak soon x

Can't believe it...amazing.I'll tell you what we know,Lawrence & Roseanna marry in 1893 Sarah(Frances) born 1893 Roseanna dies of meningitis 1894,Lawrence remarries 1897 to Julia in Seacombe Cheshire....why & they return to Ireland.
Frances married in 1932 & already had a son John & went on  to have 3 more sons,we think Johns father was not who she married, she was 40 when she married we wonder where she lived, what was she doing,at sometime she worked in a hotel in Greystones. When she died in 1984 we she was 84 but was 7 years older & Dermot says she would never tell anyone her age her husband was a few years younger.
I have to thank a lady called Margaret for getting lots of certificates for me,thanks for the email Margaret, will get back to you.
Dermot couldn't believe it when i told him about all his cousins, hope you can find out some details for us.I may not be back on here until Tuesday, did you get my personal message?
Take care & can't wait to hear from you x

Hello O1lizzie,

My family had to move from the Switzerland of the US (Colorado) to ech! Texas.  I have been really busy.  Do you have any information on the John Timmons I mentioned who lived in Dublin until arount the mid 1840's.  All of my information stops with him.  My great, great, grandfather Edward would not even talk about his Irish roots except to say that we were descended from "Irish horse thieves".  I believe I heard that he was Catholic and if that is true, I have a suspiscion what the implication was although I believe that Rose Ann Holmes who immigrated here at the same time was Protestant.  The only thing I do know about the old man was that he was one heck of a dancer as witnessed by my father.  That would have made Edward a very old man when he died.

Thank you for responding.

Hi. My name is Helen Timmins. My dad is Laurence (Christy) Timmins. his name was mis-spelt on registration of his birth. His father was Tom Timmons. His grandfather was Laurence Timmons and his grandmother was Julia. They are buried in Glendalough, behind the tower, along with my dads infant brother (Tom). Laurence Timmons was indeed married before and had a daughter Sarah but my dad has no recollection of meeting her. They lived in Greystones before moving to Rathdrum. Laurence and Julia worked for people in a big house at the entrance to Rathdrum. When my grandfather married he moved in with them in the gardeners cottage (I think Julia had died at that point) Laurence lived with Tom and Elizabeth Timmons until he died. My dad remembers him well!!
Dad still visits the grave from time to time (he's 73 now)

Julia died in 1937 of heart failure & cardiac disease her son John registered the death.Sarah died in 1984 aged 91 outliving all as far as we know all her younger siblings.

Hi, yes Julia died 3rd sept 1937 and Laurence died 4th sept 1956. They're buried together near the tower in glendalough. Dad is in the process of putting a new headstone up with both their names on it, and baby tom who died in the 1940s. We were down there last week, my kids love grandad telling his 'olden days' stories!!!!I don't know if Sarah outlived all her siblings.... Over the next couple of weeks I'll try to get dad to put down on paper all the names, etc..... His sister Nuala will be over during the summer too so I'll pick her brains too. Will email you when I get to do this.
