Title: St Cyprians Baptisms Kimberley
Post by: freya on Sunday 27 May 12 17:35 BST (UK)
Hi, I wonder if anyone can help with an entry in this info (which I saw via Ancestry24). I am wanting to find Bertram Herewald William Kightley. Obviously need the usual bits of information.

I KNOW HIS FATHER WAS WILLIAM J KIGHTLEY, A "DISPENSER" who returned to UK in 1920 and went back to SA later the same year without his children. No sign of a wife so far.

Thanks. Hope someone can help.

Hi there,
Check the family search website - they have images for St Cyrians and if you browse before the christeniing, you may find a marriage as well.

Hi,

Not sure if you have looked yet but Betrams baptism record is on:
Cape of good hope > Kimberley St Cyprian > Baptisms with index 1901-1914 page 344.

Also when William John Kightley travelled back to the UK in 1920 with his children he left them with his brother Charles Kightley, in Northamptonshire. Williams wife Sophie (Berthold) had died in 1918 and William remarried in 1921 to Mary/Maria Dickens and they had a son in 1926 called William John Kightley, who as posted above divorced his wife in 1951.

Hope this helps.

Karen.

Hello Freya,
we are researching a collateral line and would like to know if you found out much about William's first wife (+ mother of his childern) Sophie nee Berthold.  We have found little about her and not much about her father.
Happy to share what we have.
Susan

Hi Freya,
We have connections to the Kightley family when they arrived in Roade. :o)

Hello, thanks for your reply. I am unsure if it is the Kightleys that I am interested in. I was looking for a lady known as "Ivy" who might have had a connection to Roade and specifically Salcey in Hartwell. I know that Ivy Bowdidge married Bertram Kightley and I was trying to find out if she may have been the right woman. I cannot find a Hartwell connection however.
Best Regards
Freya

I think Ivy was actually Phyllis Ivy Bowdidge, the sister of my uncle's mother, Florence Louise.

Hi,

Yes that would be right. I can see that she was commonly called Ivy and wondered if it might be her. However I cannot see any links to Hartwell in any event.

Best Regards
Freya

"William John Kightley travelled back to the UK in 1920 with his children he left them with his brother Charles Kightley, in Northamptonshire. Williams wife Sophie (Berthold) had died in 1918"

I am looking to find details of Sophie's children - their names and dates of birth etc.  How would I go about that please?  Would I get Sophie's death cert and if so, where from?
