Can anyine help with a birth for Martha Annie Mclean in Donegal approx 1875.
All I know is that her father's name was Samuel, a farmer, from her marriage certificate to Alexander MacGregor in 1900 in West Derby, Liverpool
She was sometimes known as Annie according to the 1911 census in West Derby.

Unfortunately, the link you gave isn't for Donegal.
I wasn't sure if Ballymoney was in Donegal so I Googled the question and it came up as Ballymoney Donegal
Here is an extract from one of the links
Ballymoney is in County Donegal.
The community name means "town of the shrubbery."
-
Ballymoney is actually in Co.Antrim.
Hope this may help.

Hi, can only find one birth record for a Martha McLean in the Civil registers for Co. Donegal, 1875 +/- 5 years
Martha McClean born 1870, Stranorlar, Co. Donegal, but her fathers name was John, her mothers name was Lilly
Regards
Joe

First of all, Ballymoney is the name of 16 townlands in Ireland = 2 in Antrim and one in Donegal. However, the places listed under civil registration are the registration districts- in this case County Antrim.
Secondly, Martha's birth may be registered under another name such as Annie making it more difficult to find, or the year of birth could be incorrect.

Could this be her?
Martha Anne Mclaen b 17 May 1872 Donegal, Ireland, daughter of Samuel Mclaen, mother was Martha Hamilton

Hi Again,
Although I have only just noticed the date on the original post....
Son Norman H MacGregor b 1903 had the middle name of HAMILTON so I guess the 1872 birth that I have just posted is more than a possibility.
1901 census :

Death perhaps?
Samuel McLean age 73 Mar qtr 1922 Milford Vol 2 page 103
NB: By coincidence, my mother/ maternal family were also from Ramelton and most of their deaths were registered in Milford or Letterkenny

This is really good news for me as I haven't been able to find out anymore information on Martha.
Do you have any details on your family?
My Granny's Brother, Alexander MacGregor, was married to Martha Annie MacLean in Liverpool. One census shows her name as Annie.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi tazzy,
Not sure if you are still following this thread?
I have a heap of information on the Mclean family. The original poster who replied to you in this thread was my mum (Yoda65). Samuel Mclean, father of Martha Anne McLean, was my 2nd great grand father. Martha Anne mclean is my 2nd Great Aunt.

Hi Jodie, I see you mention that you have a heap of info on the McLean family. My great grandmother was a fanny McLean married a William Walker begley in Londonderry in 1890. Fanny was born in greenock Scotland but her father was a John mcclean born in donegal. John was married to a Sarah kincaid. I think they left Scotland and they came back to donegal. Possibly ballybegley in donegal. John's father was called James and he married a Fannie shinnan or shannon. If you have any info on the McLean's it would be greatly appreciated. Ps. I tried to send you a PM but it says your inbox is full.
