Try contacting http://www.memento-mori.co.uk/

I know they have most MI's for Stirlingshire and I'm pretty sure they have info on Alloa in Clacks.

Sure, I saw that online.  However, I believe they might have the records off line that they can check for you.
You should drop them a quick email.  I've had many dealings with them.

D

I should have added, I think they only put records online of those stones for which they have photographs.  They will have other MIs where they haven't photographed the stones yet.

Hi, JuliaP,

I failed to notice this message before sending my previous post.  There are quite a few Hendersons, Drysdales and Andersons buried in Greenside Cemetery.  There is one Roger but no Rodgers.

Unfortunately none of these names appear on the MI’s for Greenside Cemetery or the adjacent Old Kirkyard, but  there are quite a few unlisted headstones due, no doubt, to being indecipherable.

It's been a long time since the last interment in Greenside and even longer in the Old Kirkyard.

Incidentally, I passed Sunnyside Cemetery today and it’s open.

maddymoss, if you have some time, could you possibly check to see whether there are any Forrests in the MIs there.
I have a lot in Stirlingshire but not too much of a stretch for some of them to have migrated to, or from Alloa and surrounds.

Thanks.

Dave

There is only one Forrest listed in the MI’s for Clackmannanshire.

Greenside Cemetery:  Annie Dalgleish  MacWatt  nee Forrest  died 1920 aged 89.

Thank you for checking. Really kind.

Now, that name Dalgleish sounds familiar - must do some digging on Annie.

Julia:

Just wondered how you made out.  I am researching ancestors for a friend in Toronto, Canada and her gt grandparents were Peter Porteous and Jane Rodgers.  Her parents were Bennet Rodgers and Christine Drysdale.  Do you have any headstone pictures that you'd be willing to share?  Peter and Jane are interred in Greenside Cemetery, Section F  Lair 10.

Thanks,

Shelley

Dear Shelley,

Your friend and I are obviously related as my gggrandmother was Christina/ Christine or Christian Drysdale.

I have no headstones but they have a colourful past. Christine had at least 3 partners. You obviously have that story.

Kind regards,
Julia

BillionGraves site carry out photographic work on headstones. You need to register (free) and post a request for the photo you require. Hopefully one of the volunteers will be able to help you out.

Clackmannanshire cemeteries have a searchable database at the Council website. It is very easy to use. If you are trying to find your ancestors login to:

http://www.clacks.gov.uk/community/burialrecords/

Gives date of burial and age of deceased from 1866 to present. Index only gives first name initial. Two things to remember:
1) Married wives are under their married surname.
2) People in the same grave are probably related. Sometimes record gives relationship.

If you want to enhance the record didge on it and it will be saved in Downloads from where you can load into a photo editor.
