Title: WW11 Ammunition Factory
Post by: 2mm on Monday 04 June 12 17:00 BST (UK)
Luton  WW11.  Ammunition Factory, any help, please?

The factory may have made  electric domestic appliance, eg vacuum cleaners, then became an ammunition factory during the war.

Any info/links greatly appreciated
Thank you 2mm

Hi

A simple google search ("luton munition factory") gives this for starters . . . . .

"I don’t think a lot of people realised just how many munitions were going on there. Because Vauxhall were making tanks, Commer Cars were doing the lorries, Kent Instruments were doing all the fine instruments, Skefco they were on war work, ball bearings, Electrolux were on war work. Every hat factory was making uniforms, it was a hive of military activity really, military connections."
