trying to find fletts jas flett spouse ann i believe his parents john flett and margaret nicolson married 1853 but thats where we are stuck cant find there parents it should be around kirkwall

we know that jas is james nicolson flett born 1856 his father so we beleive is john flett married margaret 29-12-1853

Hi, on the 1861 census at Heathfield, St Ola, John Flett 31 ploughman born Firth, Margaret 32 born Walls, John 6, James 4, Mary 3, Peter 1mo, all the children were born in St Ola, dont know if you know Orkney at all, Heathfield is a big farm on the outskirts of Kirkwall overlooking Scapa Flow/Bay
There is a family tree on the OFHS site with the same ancestors going back to 1792, I could pm you with details if you dont already have it

i am now stuck going by the paperwork i have found john flett was born orkney 1830 his wife magaret nicolson also orkney but there was 6 john fletts born 1830 can anyone help

You need the Marriage Cert of John/margaret to get Fathers names/occps's.
I can tell you a little about it from Parish Records though but no Fathers names/occp given;

Margaret NICHOLSON of Kirkwell
Witnesses Hugh NICHOLSON/James BAIKIE
1861 Census has John born c 1830, Firth so these may be a possibles for him;

John FLETT, July 1830, Firth Church, to PETER/MARY nee GAUDIE
+ a little earlier;

As John/Margaret name Children Peter/Mary the second one would be my choice.
But the M/C is a must to confirm.

James Laughton FLETT Oct 1836 has Mother as GANDIE + Peter 1830 has the same.
