LENNOX, SYME,  Robert MC.MILLAN b 1829 parents were Peter MC.MILLAN and Mary MC.CORMICK.   Robert married Catherine CAIN b. 1840 I think.
I am completely stuck so any information would be wonderful

OLD OR WEST KILPATRICK  /DUNBARTON

you will need to buy credits to view.

had a look on SP - there is a Catherine McMillan m.s cain 1876 but it isn't the right one as this one born 1852 married to Alexander.

will try to find her on 1881 census..

think this is her in 1891: Bridgton, Glasgow

Catherine McMillan 50  cotton mill worker   b. ireland
Daniel McMillan      31                               b. Dumbarton, renfrewshire
Catherine McMillan 27                               b. Glasgow
Robert McMillan  20                                           "
Maggie McMillan 16                                           "
Annie McMillan   13                                            "

think death Robert gave is wrong - this is the right one /area /after birth of Annie:

1879
MCMILLAN  ROBERT
M
49
BRIDGETON
GLASGOW CITY/LANARK
644/01 0080

again you will need credits on SP to view fully.

Diddy.. thanks for this!!!!
Can i impose on you to look for a marriage of Peter Mc Millan to Mary MC Cormick, possibly IReland although maybe not , and maybe William Cain and Hannah Carline both births and deaths. I think around clackmannon area

Many thanks if you can do this..

Hi Liz - I did look for the marriage of peter & Mary the other day without result.

I cant use any more credits on SP - you will have to do that yourself. But i can look for them on the census /A*

Why do you think they were in Clackmannon area?

Hi Diddy... that's fine.. i truly didn't realize you were using your credits, and for that i thank you very much. The reason for Clackmannon, was really because the rest of the family going forward appeared to be, but of course that is always open for argument.
Thanks for all you have done however. i am very grateful.

Ok only used a couple - rest was on A*.   ;D

Have had  a look around for Peter & mary - think you will need to use SP. As Robert was born Glasgow then I should concentrate on that. I think he had a brother Peter born 10/9/1797 Glasgow, same area to start you off. you could do a parent search on SP.

Cain /Kanes think William & Hannah may have stayed in Ireland so things could be trickier. I did look on roots ireland;

http://www.rootsireland.ie/

as searchs are free. only record i found (but only in index) was on a passenger list for Catherine.

Good luck with your search
