George Clarkson married Dorothy (Dolly)Lievesley, on 13 Oct 1773, in Sutton Cum Duckmanton.
They had 3 children, George baptised 15 February 1782, being the last child I believe.
Could anyone help me with the date of Dorothy (Dolly) death. Thanks
-
Hi
It looks like Dorothy may have died in childbirth.
Dolly Clarkson, wife of George, buried 15 Feb 1782
no age given. but I will check the MI's later and get back to you
Carol

Thanks, that really is interesting information.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Carol-Most kind of your offer.
My Gt Granny Mary Tidmarsh (Various spellings 'Lidmarsh Tidmash and Titmarsh Litmarsh') died in Sutton cum Duckmanton 1902 second quarter. Her husband My Gt granddad Samuel Tidmarsh died in Clowne 1920 first quarter but Clowne parish register in the archives only goes up to 1909 and the later ones seem lost!
We wondered if he was buried in Duckmanton with his wife Mary, one of them things I mean to check out one day. So could you have a look as register also any MI's (Though I think they were too poor for a headstone.)

Hi Retford
Nothing on the MI's I'm afraid. George & Dolly had 4 children altogether, as well as George there was -
William 2 Feb 1775
Elizabeth bapt 19 Oct 1777
Martha bapt 27 Jun 1779
Do you want information from the marriage entry or have you already got it?
Carol

Hi Dobby
Here she is -
Mary Tidmarsh, Sutton Scarsdale, aged 60 buried 16 Jun 1902
No other Tidmarsh's in the burials for Sutton

Many thanks for your help with George and Dorothy Clarkson.
I had no idea that they had a son called William, in fact the info on George and Dorothy I gave on the post is what I had on them.
It came has a shock that George baptised his son and buried his wife on the same day.
Anymore info you can give me on them would be much appreciated especially if George remarried and was they both born in Sutton cum Duckmanton ? I know from my hits on the net that the surname "Lievesley" is a local name.
Look forward to hearing from you and once again many thanks for your help.

Hi Retford
Dorothy wasn't a Lievesley by birth as she was a widow when she married George Clarkson
George Clarkson of Chesterfield married Dorothy Lievesley, widow of this parish, by licence 13 Oct 1773 Witnessed by Michl Pass, Elizabeth Lowe, Betty Mitchel.
This looks like her first marriage
John Lievesley bac, otp & Dorothy Peace, spin, otp by banns 25 Oct 1763
witnessed by Ann Plant, James Hewitt, Ann Laverell, Edward Hodginson.
There is a burial for John Lievesley 24 May 1772.
Dorothy Peace baptised 28 June 1748 to William & Mary Peace.

Hi Carol
Well that knocked me back a bit !
Never assume anything in Family History.
I thought that this was their first marriage how wrong you can be !
But most important did George marry again in your records ?
thanks

Hi Reford,
The marriage by licence of George, There maybe a bond allegation record at Matlock Derbyshire archives- or possible at York Borthwick University or Lichfield (nr Birmingham) Archives, this will give George's age at marriage and his occupation also if lucky ? other info.
-
Hi Retford
No other information given at all - sorry
As dobby said it may be a idea to get a copy of the marriage licence. I have just sent for one and because Derbyshire is in the diocese of Lichfield, I had to apply to Lichfield Records Office. There is a form on their website for applying for licences - It did cost my £12.50 though.
