For people who died in Galashiels Poorhouse where would they be buried? Would they have tombstone or they buried in unmarked graves?? Thanks :) :)

Hi David
Unless family were able to pay for the stone, more likely they would be buried in common ground, without a stone, at whatever cemetery was used. Hopefully someone may know what cemeteries may have been used to let you follow up further :)

the most likely graveyard would be Galashiels Eastlands - there is a large area, close to the entrance with very few headstones which is probably where the poor were buried. Borders FHS have transcribed all of the memorials in Eastlands
Also, there are some documents on the Galashiels Poorhouse at the Scottish Borders Archive in Hawick.
