there's a marriage on the BMD Index for a John Davey in 1911 - but I dont see a cross match for this to a Mary Theresa ...

  Name: John Davey
  Registration district: Sligo
  Event type: Marriage
  Quarter and year: Oct-Dec 1911
  Volume: 2 / Page: 326

Do you know what part of Co. Sligo this marriage took place ?

p.s. have you census returns for the family ?

Hello,

could she be Mary Jane? There is a Mary Jane Cooney with the same reference.

Hi
I found that one on family search but canīt find the brideīs maiden name. They are buried in Kilmacowen churchyard and I am looking into the possibility that this is Johnīs second marriage as in 1901  John Davey was married to Bridget who died in 1907. Their children were being looked after by their maternal grandmother in 1911, but I canīt  find John. Have looked into emigration and prison records with no success. How would I find the burial records for Kilmacowen cemetery?

Hi,

I notice you asked re the cemetery earlier: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,614287.msg4632192.html#msg4632192

That site shows a John Davey, Mary Teresa and Roseann - perhaps that is where you got the name from. There is no indication re ages or further details on the site but the owner does mention photos. There may be more information then.

It has been a family mystery what became of John. Think I will organise a search at the register office to try to find out when he died

Did the children never return to their father?

No. The story goes that John turned to drink after his wife died and that he died soon after Bridget, who died in 1907, but the only record I can find is a death in 1943.

So he may not have married either.

It is difficult. Is he alive when Bridget dies? Do you have her death certificate?

I can't see a death for Mary Davey, his mother. Do you have that? Nor can I see her in 1911.

I canīt find Mary (Maria ) in 1911, but I have found a death in 1920. I think that I need to obtain Bridgetīs death certificate and try to take it from there

Also, if you think that is your Mary, that death certificate may be worth getting to see who reported the death.
