Can't find marriage either, definitely not the same family from Dorset, they are there in 1841.

Hi
Not sure if you ever found the marriage, but I can help now. I dont have a sub with FindMyPast so can't give a date, but by doing a general search of a JEMIMA marrying a GEORGE YOUNG gave one result in 1836. It's in the " West Middlesex Marriage Index".
Bride's name: Jemima GLASS.
This looks like her baptism record in the NC records for Arborfield Independant
Jemima Glass bpt. 2 August 1812 dau. of James and Charlotte, of Arborfield (Berks), about 4 miles from Reading.

There is a register of Dissenters' Baptisms at Arborfield covering the period 1759 to 1836. Spellings were rather haphazard.

Until 2003, we knew almost nothing about a Dissenters' Chapel in Arborfield, because there were very few direct references to it. There was a mention of a 'Methodist Chapel' in the 1839 Tithe Apportionment Map's 'Terrier' (List of properties), and in the 1851 Census the building was listed as 'One Chapel, not used for twelvemonth'. It was probably demolished soon after.
It was situated immediately opposite the 'Bull' Public House on the Reading Road, next to one of two cottages.

Here is the combined 1841 - 1901 index for all households within Arborfield and Newland, together with those in the detached part of Wokingham. Please note that we have tried to preserve the original spellings as much as possible, so check all alternative spellings.

Could I have some help please with the baptism of George Young born 1803-1806 in Chelsea.
Would be interesting if it was Richard Young.
Thanks Alberbury.

Hi Alberbury
Lots of George Youngs about in the timeframe you are looking for (1803-6)
What happened to your George Young ? Have you checked the 1871 census ? There is a George Young widower and a printer in the workhouse aged 72 years and born in the City of London c1799. Is this him do you think ?
Then there is this baptism at St Dunstan in the West in the City of London
George Young bapt. 13 Jan 1799 son of Richard and Susanna.
Just re-reading this thread and noted the address 'York Street' where George was in 1841 and the Gazette clipping. Richard Young left a PCC Will (free to look at on the NA at the minute) - left his business to 'HIS SON GEORGE' - mentions 'York Street'
Richard Young was living in Enfield at Chase Side (address mentioned in the Will) when he was buried 24 Jul 1847 aged 82 - so a birth year c1765. Richard Young was born 14 Jan 1765 and bapt.
12 Jul 1765 at St Andrew Enfield son of Alexander and Elizabeth Young.
I think Richard Young married Susannah James in 1784 - had quite a few children up to c1800. In the 1841 census there is a Richard Young in Chelsea bn c1770 with a much younger woman Ann Young aged 40. Found this marriage:
St Mary's Bryanston Square 13 December 1837
Richard Young 'full age' widower and stationer of 7 York St. Chelsea. Father: Alexander Young - Land M ? ?
Ann Simpson 'full age' spinster of 21 Quebec St. Father: Robert Simpson - ironmonger.
Both signed register
Witnesses: Francis Berry and Hepzibah Berry.

Hi claire
Very impressive results and thank you for your time spent on this research.
You have given me information that supports my lucky find of a connection to George and Richard.
When we get back to normality I can get some copies at my local archives.
Thanks Alberbury
