Hi all
Are there any public references of pre-WW2 Army desertions available?
Im helping a great-uncle trace one of his cousins. He recalls his mum telling him that his cousin (Alfred Neale b.1900 in Greenwich) turned up at home unexpectedly in the early 1930s and then lost all trace of him
Suspicion is that he had deserted
Any help appreciated
Thanks
Cliff

Hi Cliff
Desertions were published in the Police Gazette. The Open University may have what you are looking for.
This wiki link - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police_Gazette_(UK)#Surviving_archives - has a link to the OU Archive.
