I am seeking help to trace Lewis/Louis Schwartz. He was born about 1836, but where I have no idea. I cannot locate his birth on FreeReg, Family Search Etc
I do know he married Ellen Jane Cushing 19 June 1862 at Saint Mary Edge Hill, Lancashire.
I also know that Ellen had three children, Lillian Maud Bn 1868 Louis Cushing Schwartz, Bn 1869 and Joseph Schwartz Bn 1875
I have Ellen Jane in 1851 census at Duncan St Liverpool, aged 10 S a scholar
1861 census at Croft St West Derby, aged 20 S house servant to parents
1871 Census at Red Rock Rd, West Derby aged 30 W Housekeeper to William Sumner Coal Merchant
At no stage can I find anything about Lewis/Louis apart from the marriage
Any help would be very grate fully received

The marriage cert would give you his fathers name - hopefully.
Have you found the family on censuses after the marriage - where does he say he was born?
PS - just looked at the 1871. She describes herself as a widow. Children not with her. Do you know where they are?
And who, then, is named as father on Joseph's birth cert, if he was not born till1875?

In 1881 she is still housekeeping for William Sumner
R G 11 3619 39 23
Now has 12 yr old Louis with her, plus this new child Joseph.
One does suspect she may have been more than a housekeeper to widower, William Sumner.
Or that she was an exceptionally good housekeeper, and despite becoming pregnant by someone unknown, he kept her on in her job!

There are a few trees on Ancestry that give his death as 16 Aug 1869 Liverpool seems possible but they also have his father as William Julius Schweitzer not Izador as on marriage to Ellen
they have Lewis and this family in Aberdeen Scotland 1841.

Ellens parents seem to be quite comfortably well off to me ,on Stephens burial in 1891 it staes he is a retired shipping master,of Thackeray Street, Toxteth,family grave,
and they bring up Lillian before she marries and emigrates to Canada,
I cant find the death/burial of a Schwartz in Liverpool in 1869 ?
I also suspect she was a good friend of William Sumner

I couldnt find it either,but the tree does seem to be well researched,William Julius was a German professor and 2 more of his sons were clerks.
