Good morning ...REALLY stuck on this one and have been trying 4 years to sort it out ...
my gg grandad Daniel Oakes b 1849 Neston ,Cheshire
married Ann Evason from Kidderminster - Liverpool 1871
http://www.lancashirebmd.org.uk/cgi/marrind.cgi
1871 census they are in Argyle Road ,Garston,Lancashire
8th January 1873 Ann Oakes dies aged 26 in Love Lane, Kidderminster,Worcs - no number given
so that is my quest ...can anyone find ANN EVASON b 1846 Kidderminster in 1851 or 1861 census ?
did Ann come to Liverpool alone - or with her family ?
did Ann /Daniel have a child ....in Kidderminster ?
who were Ann Evason parents / siblings ...
any help would be greatly appreciated ......totally stuck on this one ....I know Eveson is probably more common - but marriage AND death say Evason ....a kind member on Family Tree Forum visited Kidderminster Record Office to find the death date of Ann Oakes ( Evason )....(.thank you Daphne )
I would be delighted to solve the mystery of Ann Evason ....she was 3 years older than Daniel Oakes ...so was 25 when she married Daniel .....I wonder whether she was actually married before , and her husband died ???
I am struggling to fin Ann Evason b 1846 in 1851 census
thanks for reading , and any input ...
allan ( Oakes) :)
added....this is from 5 years ago...obviously now have more info , but there maybe something here that might help

The marriage certificate will help!
It will tell you:
1. Father's name and occupation
2, Whether she was married before (spinster or widow)
£9.25 is a cheap price to help solve a 4 year old brickwall?! ;D

You`re absolutely right KGarrad - it is worth the money - but it`s the challenge ...lol...
Just found out that Daniel married Mary Ann Merrick in june qtr 1874 ...this I knew
eldest child in 1881 census is Thomas Walter Oakes b 1874
Thomas Walter Oakes ....no birth
Thomas Walter Merrick b jan qtr 1874 West Derby,Liverpool ....so ...if Ann Oakes died 8th January 1873 ...why was Thomas born a Merrick ?....probably not the son of Daniel ? ....
at least this thread made me find something new ...lol

OK. Lets be generous here! ;D
Daniel is a widower, from early 1873.
He feels in need of . . . companionship! :o
Thomas Walter Merrick is born Jan-Mar 1874 - meaning that the "companionship" took place 2nd qtr 1873?
Would Daniel have married someone who had given birth to another man's child a few month's beforehand?
I wasn't going to say this, but . . . . the birth certificate might name a father!
My own grandfather was in a similar position!
He married his 2nd wife 3 months after she gave birth to an illegitimate daughter. It is presumed he was the father, but I have no proof!

Hi There,
The marriage for Daniel and Ann Eveson took place at St Nicholas 13.2.1871 according to familysearch. He is a blacksmith father Thomas blacksmith ,she is a spinster father Thomas shoemaker. They both sign, wit Mary Oakes and John Williams.
The 1871 census says Ann was born in1846 in Kidderminster so it looks like she went home to see her parents and died there.
I can't spot a birth reg or baptism but it does say she was single when she married.

Thought the following may be of interest...
Worcester Journal 19 Feb 1852
Bewdley
Neglecting Children:- Thomas Evason was committed to a month of hard labour for refusing to support two children, who were in the
workhouse, he being an able-bodied person.

Thanks Ciderdrinker ...at least I can cancel looking for a previous marriage for her ....
my gg grandad came from over the Mersey ( Neston ) to Garston and lived here from 1871 ...Ann Evason was 3 years older than him and I am puzzled as to why she was in Liverpool and who with ? in the 1871 census they are married and living in Argyle Road ,Garston ....born and died in Kidderminster ....24 /25 in 1871 census ...1861 census ?? where is she ?.....I can only think her name is mistranscibed ...if we could find her occupation - it may solve why she was in Garston...looks like one of my kids /grandkids can get me the marriage cert for xmas ..lol
I wonder if she lied ? about her age
1861 there is an Ann Evason b 1841 Kidderminster,Worcs Head of house aged 20
Kidderminster 3 district
could someone see who else is with her in the household please ??
cheers
allan
ADDED...OOHH Thanks Jaqueline .....could Ann have lied about her age being 20 ?? to keep the authorities away if she was in fact only 16/15 in the 1861 census...if there are younger siblings with her in that household...being from Liverpool ,I have know idea where Bewdley is ..is it Kidderminster area ?
thanks

just found out that cousin 3 times removed has researched Thomas Walter Merrick ...baptism only gives Mary Ann as mother - no father ...

Approx. distance between Bewdley + Kidderminster in straight line- 4 miles
Jackie

Thanks very much Jaqueline ...that looks promising because the spelling Evason and not Eveson ponits to a chance of Thomas Evason being a possibility ...I will look for him on the 1851 census
cheers

1851 census
Jno Griffith 48 ag lab Worcs Stourport
Susan ......... 48 wife ......... .........
Infant 2mths boarder ............
Elizb Burgonan 28 single Worcs Pensax

Great...thanks Jackie...I will have a look for Elizabeth Burgnonan , though it does state that Ann Evapon is a servant and Allen Burganon aged 3months is a bastard...would it not say that for Ann if she was Elizabeths daughter ?
