Hi I wonder if you can help?
I have Windows 7 computer and have been sent an email with pdf's for me to print out from dropbox. Can some kind soul tell me how to print the pdf's off as I can't work it out?? I haven't encountered dropbox before and I thought it was for ipads??

The Adobe PDF reader should incorporate a print feature. Just open the file as you would any other, then press the print button.

There must be something wrong somewhere as they only open within dropbox - once I allow Windows to say they are not unsafe!
I tried clicking on the Internet explorer 8 print button to get print preview and it just keeps recycling the page numbers as if it has 200 plus pages! for a one page document, plus the document looks wrong.
I also tried right clicking on the document in dropbox and then the print preview and it did the same thing.
Thanks for trying. I'll email the sender and ask for another version somehow.

I don't understand what you mean by "within Dropbox" ?
I have Dropbox on this PC, and it's merely a folder on my PC which is kept synchronised with the Dropbox folders of those I choose to share it with.
What is the file extension (the last three letters after the dot) of the files which you have ? If they are PDF files they should be called filename.pdf and you would open them with Adobe reader.
If you and your friend have Dropbox installed, he/she shouldn't have to email you anything other than perhaps a notification that they are sharing the files with you.

I don't have dropbox on my computer- the attachments came in dropbox in a dropbox link that was within the email and there were 4, 3 of which say they are pdf's and one which is some sort of form which I dont recognise and I can't see the file name. When you say you open the file with adobe reader, how do you mean? I can click on the form and the pdf's and see them on th ecomputer - I don't click on anything to do with adobe reader. I just can't print them or save them other than as a picture??

If they are on Dropbox, there should be an option somewhere to download them, from my experience.

have to ask, do you know who sent the links and are the files something you were expecting? curious to know why you can't see the file names :-\
I haven't used dropbox so can't answer the question as such.

adobe reader works in the background, the fact that you have opened and can read a pdf means that it is on your pc
the adobe reader screen should have a print icon, top left or you can choose print by clicking on file then print.

Can you save the pdf file/s to your desktop and then try to open them via My Computer or My Documents?
Or make sure you don't have Word or Excel or anything else open.
I think your problem is that you are in email mode and maybe the wrong program for opening it; I have had that problem with shared Dropbox - I had just been using something in Word, then went to open an Excel file in a shared Dropbox file, and it couldn't handle it.

The Adobe pdf reader or whatever pdf reader you are using (probably Adobe as it is the default installed in the majority) should open the pdf file in your browser program when you click on the link provided by your friend.
If it is the Adobe reader then the toolbar can be found by moving your mouse to the bottom of the screen while reading the pdf file (don't click the buttons yet just move the mouse cursor to the bottom of the page) it will have symbols for saving the file and printing (as per the image) if this control panel does not appear try pressing Ctrl Shift and S at the same time to save a copy to your computer.

Thank you so much for all your helpful suggestions. The email is from someone in a voluntary group to other group members and has caused not just me problems I have today found out!
I agree I am in the 'wrong 'program but the files won't come out of the browser! You cannot save them to anywhere, - no option, nor print them,- you try and nothing happens - they don't go to the printer, they never appear in the print queue nor is there an 'open with ' option.
I tried the 'download' option at the top of the dropbox page too but that still opens them in the internet browser and also scrambles the page - a form I need to print out.
Because the file is still in the browser window, I don't get any of the hover options that Falkryn referred to either. I've never known files like them.
I - and others- have emailed the originator to ask for them to come a different way, but I am very frustrated that I cannot get to the bottom of why I can't open them properly. I hate not understanding why something doesn't work!

It is a PDF file on my Dropbox account and was the one from which I took the screen shot showing the toolbar.
PS The Hover functions I referred to are specifically within Browsers as Adobe operates differently when started externally from a web browser - so it is rather strange that the functions are not available - one possible answer is the security setting on the pdf file may exclude saving or printing

Your dropbox link you posted works perfectly and there is a lovely tool bar with print options and everything else. I can only assume you are correct and there is something inherent in the original file I was sent that stops me from saving and printing.
