Title: Four missing Salmon siblings (Bayswater/Kensington)
Post by: rutht22000 on Sunday 02 December 12 10:28 GMT (UK)
can anyone find what happened to these siblings:-

Florence Maud Salmon, born 1892

Gladys Hilda Salmon, born 1894

Edward Grenville Fenn Salmon, born 1899 (the only record I have of him post 1911 is one electoral roll in 1920 in Buckhurst Hill, Essex)

Henry Dawson Salmon, born about 1903

All were born in Bayswater/Kensington to Edward George Salmon, a journalist and his wife Maude Mary (nee Jeacock)

They are last all together in 1911 living in Buckhurst Hill, Essex and I've lost them thereafter!

thanks
Ruth

Thanks Rosie - he is worth keeping in mind. Henry comes from the 1911 census but its very feasible he was called Harry instead

EDITED:  that is him - have now found his baptism - transcribed as Harry Daidson Salmon, child of Gillard George and Maud Mary....will have to correct ::)  gives his birth on the baptism on 24 April 1902 so he has knocked off 4 years down the line!

and a marriage in 1947 in Epping

Thanks Cathy....there was an Edward Salmon that was a child farm labourer going to Canada in 1912 so that could well be the same Edward going to SA as well

There's a Florence Maud Salmon death in Croydon district 1981.  Gives age as 85 and birthdate 24 Nov 1895 so slightly out.

Hi,

Edward Grenville Fenn Salmon flew in the RAF and moved to Livingstone Zambia.  He had two children.  His daughter is still alive and lives outside Bristol.  Guy had three sons and I live in Johannesburg.  Guy also had a daughter who lives in Durban.

Hello!

I found your question while hunting for information about the Florence Maud Salmon who married Sir Austin Bradford Hill. I am writing a biography about him, and don't have anywhere near enough information about her, although I have gathered a bit. They married in September 1923. He was from Loughton, and he said in an interview she came from Buckhurst Hill. They had 3 children, and she died in 1980. http://www.hawksheadbenefice.co.uk/inscriptions.pdf

Bios/obits of Austin Bradford Hill give her birthdate as 1892.

I would love to know as much as possible about the Salmon family.

Hilda

Welcome Hilda :)

Florence Maud Salmon's baptism record (at All Saints, Kensington on 20 Nov 1892) is annotated with her birthdate of 20 Sep 1892.  The baptism record shows her as daughter of Edward George Salmon (journalist) and Maud Mary, of 15 Colville Rd.

Her death registration can be traced as Florence Maud Hill in Brent district in Dec qtr 1980 - the recorded birthdate corresponds as 20 Sep 1892. You can see this index entry for free on www.freebmd.org.uk.

In addition to the four children listed in Ruth's first post on this thread, the Salmons had had another daughter, Amy Margery, born 30 March 1895 and baptised 16 June 1895 at All Saints, Kensington.

Amy's death aged 0 was registered in Kensington in Mar qtr 1896.

The baptism register (including images) can be found on Ancestry in its  collection London, England, Church of England Births and Baptisms, 1813-1916.
