Title: 1871 look up please-Latter

Hi, I have trawled through the 1871 census looking for a Thomas Latter born as Thomas carpenter in 1850 at Rotherfield to no avail, I have Thomas in 1851 living with Latter family in Rotherfield and in 1861 he is the workhouse(both his parents and grandparents have died by 1861)after this he seems to disappear ? I have searched for a death but nothing obvious shows?
Thomas is the son of John Latter & Margaret Carpenter, they married in 1854.

If anyone can assist I would be extremely grateful.

What surname is he shown under in 1861 and is he in the Sussex WH

I'm not seeing him in 1861?
