Title: George Goater Ligare COMPLETED MANY THANKS
Post by: miriamkinga on Friday 11 January 13 20:15 GMT (UK)
Evening all

While researching my extensive and often elusive Goater family I have come across references to a George Goater Ligare. There seems to be a lot of information available on the internet about his interesting life.

I am interested as to how his middle name came to be Goater and how/ if this connects to my family.

George' s date of birth is given as c.1821 in Winchester but I am struggling to find his birth or that of his father Isaac Ligare born in Derbyshire. If anyone can help with a birth for George and a marriage for his parents I would be very grateful.

George' s brother Charles W Ligare also had a really interesting life, ending up as a Surveyor General in New Zealand :)

Thanks so much Crisane - that' s the link. Mary Alder' s mother was Sarah Goater hence the middle name.

Thanks for taking the trouble to help me.

Best wishes

 Maria  :)
