I am trying to find out information on Esme Lucy McKenzie nee Stott who passed away in Westminster area in December 2003. Esme and her elderly 88 year old mother moved from New Zealand to London in 1968. Her mother, Elizabeth Stott, passed away aged 92 in Paddington, London in 1972. I am trying to find out if Esme had children. Hopefully someone may be able to find a newspaper obituary notice for her in London. Thank you

Hi
Do you have a copy of her death cert which will show who the informant was? Really useful if it's a family member as their address will be shown and they could be contacted.
The cert will also have her last known address. This will help narrow down which newspaper might have published a death notice.
Also, have you checked the probate calendar for an entry to see if she left a will? Likewise, have you checked the calendars for a will for her mother?

Hello, no I don't have a copy of her death certificate. I don't know how to search for probates online .... do you have a link or do I need to do this offline? I'm in NZ.

Hi
The probate calendars after 1966 aren't available online.
I'm hoping to make a trip in the next week or tow, so could check for you when I go.
If there is an entry, you can make an application for a copy but 'Her Majesty's Court & Tribunal Service' HMCTS require payment in sterling as they don't take credit cards or internet transactions.

Does Esme appear on any electrol rolls prior to December 2003 in London?

She seems to have lived in several houses on Blenheim Gardens prior to her death.
We have a 'no living people' policy here so I can't list who she was living with.
What relation is she to you?

Esme would have been my 2 x great grandmothers niece. I'm trying to find more information about my 2x great grandmothers oldest son (her father) and find links to our family :) Esme was an only child for their line and am unsure if she had children.

The death index says she was b. 15 Nov 1920, so when she moved to the UK in 1968 she was already 48 years old. Isn't it more likely that, if she did have any children, they would have been born in New Zealand than the UK, so wouldn't that be the logical place to start looking?

Hello Mysticbreeze,
I am Richard Mckenzie, Esme was my grandmother (I am the youngest son of Stuart Mckenzie, who was Esme's son). I myself have little information regarding my great grandmother Elizabeth Stott (as she passed away long before I was born), however I have the contact information for my auntie Nicolette Mckenzie who like me is still based in London and may be able to assist you further. Please feel free to contact me by email at (*) if you would like to discuss this any further.
Regards,
Richard
