Hi, I have a Family Tree (MyHeritage) package that I've been using for a few years but I've never really been happy with how the reports print out if I'm doing a person-specific report. The wording is all over the place and doesn't make sense. e.g. when you add a note with date and details, it is almost impossible to figure out how it will read once you print off a report. That's one of my main frustrations with it.
However I've over 600 hundred people on it on 4 trees and don't want to have to re-input everything, along with anecdotes, onto another site. I like being able to automatically check records on Ancestry but have no idea if it's possible to transfer directly over. Does anyone know if this is possible? If it is can you point me in the right direction?

Does MyHertiage have an option to export to a GED file? If it does then this is probably the best way to go.
Best regards

Hi breenbyrne,
You can export a Gedcom file from My Heritage package and then upload it to Ancestry. I have done it before.
In My Heritage, under "File"" select "Export Gedcom", save it to your desktop or other suitable folder. In Ancestry, go to "File", Import Gedcom job done.

That's great - I'm very wary of exporting stuff so I'll do a back up onto my ext hard drive first - just in case! Then with Ancestry, is there a package for editing offline or is it all online?

Hi
You can download something like Legacy which is free.
There are others but Legacy seems to be the flavour of the month.
I can't see a benefit of using an online tree when there are answers like Legacy about.

Familytree Maker in its new form with sync with your Ancestry online tree. There is a button up top right of program that allows you to sync your tree.
If you export a Gedcom file from FamilyTree Maker it brings with it all media attached to the people and that can be imported into Lagacy which I still find is one of the better report generating Family tree programs.
