Does anyone have a photo of the building ?
I know it is now a car park and toilet block and certainly been that for at least 20 years . I have a couple of books on Bedminster and even went to the library on my last visit to Bristol but was unable to find a picture .
My grandfather went to this school c . 1930 I'm and trying to collate a picture history of my grandparents who are no longer with us .
Appreciate any help with this , thankyou .

Do you have an address or street name at all?
-
For those that know the area , it was opposite the Balloon Factory and old Robs packaging building . What was the old Bedminster tram depot ( bombed in the war ) and is now a McDonalds looks out over the aforementioned car park .
I've just looked at a map I have and the street name isn't shown but : -
Its the triangle between.....
the lower end of British Rd
Top end of Cannon St where it meets East St
To the right of Diamond St
And opposite the end of St. Johns St .
The London Inn pub is on the corner of the lower end of British Rd and years ago there was a flower shop and charity shop in the buildings opposite .
My wife believes that its still called East St as it meets Sheene Lane and West St .
If you don't know the area it probably sounds very vague...sorry.

I always thought West Street started at the London Inn junction?
Know Your Place - a Bristol City Council site - has a 1940's map:

It is Bedminster National School East Street in the Kelly's Directory of Bristol, 1914

I've looked at three hard copy maps of recent years in my house and none give the street itself .
Is it East or West Street , I suppose it does ' nt matter so much now as it does show the school quite clearly on the map details given .
Possibly a forum member who is local to Bedminster may have a photograph . A few years ago I came across a rough sketch of the school from a local ' Bemmie ' book but would really like a photo , the real thing .

Just found this thread If anyone has an old photo of this school, I am hoping that they would share it with me. I have a old sampler that my Great Great Grandmother did when she was at this school when she was 12 (c1850). She was Dorothy Collis, parents were George and Dorothy Collis, they immigrated to Australia in 1853.

The address of the school was Diamond Street. I went to the school from 1951-1957. I have seen a photo of it on the web. I'll see if I can get the link.

I have a book here with some pictures of the school in it. The book is called Bedminster and published by The Malago Society. It is out of print but www.abebooks.co,uk have copies to buy. Try Anton Bantock too, the Bedminster historian.

My great great great grandfather was the school master in the mid 1800's. Any pictures would be great.

You could try the Facebook group, Bristol: now and then photograps. I believe they had some photos of it a little while back,
