Title: Eleanor M Peel (possibly neé Acheson)
Post by: Genie72 on Thursday 07 February 13 19:23 GMT (UK)
I'm looking for an Eleanor (aka Nellie) M (maiden name unknown as yet) who married Robert Peel (from Dublin, Ireland) c1890. They lived in Philadelphia, PA, USA but Eleanor was a native of the Isle of Man.

According to the US Census she was born November 1868 and the closest match I can find is an Eleanor Margaret Acheson born 29 November 1868 Mt Vernon, Douglas, IOM.

Her parents were Thomas Acheson (gardener) & Eleanor Acheson (née McGregor).

Is anyone else researching this Acheson family? Did any family members emigrate to the USA?

Thank You!

Hi

Did they emigrate as a married couple or did they marry in the USA?

Where and when was their first child born - IOM, Ireland or USA

It would be unsafe to make assumptions as to Eleanors identity without confirmation via the marriage or by the birth cert of one of their children

On the 1871 census, the Acheson family were living on Peel Road, next door to Mount Vernon (home of James Ball).

Thanks for your replies.

No, I'm afraid I don't know where she was born. All the US Census I've seen state Isle of Man. They did not marry in Ireland so I presume they married somewhere in the US. I've been through the marriage sources for Philadelphia, PA, on Family Search with no success so I must widen my search. They had no children.
