I am researching the Mustill family that came from Over - in particular, a Samuel Mustill that married Sarah Ann Dawson in 1852 (Ely district). On the 1851 census Samuel (aged 19,maybe showing his future in-laws that he was the same age as their daughter Sarah Ann!), was lodging with the Dawson family in Chatteris. On the 1841 census Samuel (aged 15), is working/ living with a farmer's family in Over. Again, he could be overstating his age to satisfy his employers. After his marriage, on the 1861 census (wrongly transcripted as Samuel Maskel) was aged 28 which would make his year of birth 1832. This would suggest he was telling the truth to his in-laws.
I would like to know his birth/baptism date and his parentage - can any kind person help?

His marriage gives his fathers name as John, occupation Tailor.

John Mustill 45 occupation Tailor

Many thanks Rosie but it still doesn't guve me any birth/baptism record for Samuel - is it not possible to access the Over parish records as they don't seem to be on 'familysearch'

I am not aware that they are online anywhere but I am sure I will be corrected. Genuki states they are at Cambridge RO or available on fiche from CFHS. No mention of Samuel on freereg either.

Only one Samuel Mustill baptised in Over as far as I can see-
14th August 1825 Mustill-Samuel of John and Rebecca

Only one Samuel Mustill baptised in Over as far as I can see-
14th August 1825 Mustill-Samuel of John and Rebecca
Which ties in with his 1841 census age, where ages over 15 were rounded down to the nearest 5 below. So he was being economical with the truth in both 1851 and 1861.

Thank you everybody for your prompt responses - now, can I be a little bit greedy? Assuming the marriage of John & Rebecca is the one quoted by Rosie i.e in 1815 then the chances are they had other offspring including Isaac (15) & Caroline (8) who are shown on the 1841 census. Could I ask Anneb if the Over parish records show any other baptisms for Mustills from John & Rebecca? Of course, it's also possible that there was another John/Rebecca marriage. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Many thanks Anneb, and I believe there was an earlier child - if the marriage as suggested by rosie99 was that between John Mustill & Rebecca Solomon in Cambridge in 1815 then they had a Joseph Mustill baptised in Cambridge on 19 Jan 1818 (see www.familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/N18L-RJ9)
Now I'm looking to find John Mustill's birth/baptism around 1796, probably in Cambridge area. Any suggestions?

Can't see a baptism for John or Joseph in Over. You could try doing a search on the CFHS site to see if they show up elsewhere.

Joseph may have been a late baptism as Ann was baptised only 9 months later
