We believe this is a painting of glenbran farm but aren't sure as none of the census record our family (
Simpson) as residing there although we have family photos of the house dating around 1900. Any tips on this would help! The picture was painted by J.S. Merriles

Hi
That could be Gask hill in the background.

Yes I think it is too. Where could I find the information on the family that was there at the time of the painting... I'm trying to connect it to the Simpson family, maybe Thomas Simpson 1822 - 1893.

Census 1901 (RG13 377 4 12)
I don't have access to the original Census image but the transcribed address reads "Glentran House, Longforgan".
The head of house is a John D Simpson. Also listed is a Fred William Simpson, age 19.
Also listed are Fanny Simpson (wife), Jessie Simpson (mother), Bell Watson Simpson (sister), Agatha Robertson Simpson (sister) and Arthur Graham Simpson (brother

John D. Simpson would be Fred's older brother. This is a picture of Isabelle and Agatha (I think) in front of the house.

Census 1891 - ref RG12 394 3 9

Hi there - just created a profile to reply to this, although I'm a bit late!
I'm a researcher in the Parish of Abernyte, in which Glenbran falls. I'd dearly like to speak with l_bamboo - but I don't think there's a private messaging system here?
If you see this, l_bamboo, or if anyone can tell me how to contact them, please email me - ally (!underscore!) nicoll (!at!) hotmail (!dot!) com - please excuse my attempts at concealing my email address from the bots/spammers.
Thanks!

Hi NoLifer --welcome to Rootschat
once you have made 3 forum postings, you will be able to use the PM system --so just reply to this thread another couple of times
Its a few months since I_Bamboo has been active on Rootschat, but he should get an email notification of replies to this thread
And just as well, you disguised your email address -- otherwise it would have to be edited out by admin
