Title: 1860 census, Philadelphia
Post by: Erato on Friday 08 March 13 21:37 GMT (UK)
In the 1860 census in Philadelphia, PA, there is a Margaret Hopkins, aged 16, born 1844 in Pennsylvania.  Could someone take a look at the original record to see whether she was living with her family and, if so, who her parents were and her father's occupation.

I don't know that she was necessarily born in Philadelphia or that she resided there in 1850.  All I know about the Margaret Hopkins I am looking for is that she was born in 1844 in Pennsylvania, that she married William H. Stalla in Philadelphia in 1868,  that they had two children in 180-71, and that she probably died in Philadelphia in 1902.

Thanks for looking.

Good grief, Sandra!  All that in the time it took for me to get home on the bus.  Thanks for putting all that together.  I will upgrade my files and then move on to my real target, Ida Stalla.

A few little gremlins in among it all but I think that it does look like your Margaret with parents.

Yes, I believe that would be her in 1920.  A lot of the Stallas changed the spelling to "Stella."  What would an "attache" be?  She was 49 - a bit old to be a new mother.  Looks like she never married.

Don't know if this could be Ida, the age would be out 10 years and a couple of other details wouldn't check out either but there are a few idiosyncrasies  ???

Buckingham, Bucks, Pennsylvania in 1910

Edward H Williams 74 Farmer.
Anna H Williams 60
Ida Stellor 30 Servant. Parents born Ireland ? Private Family. House Worker.
Marget Stellor 3 Born PA
Charles E Scutt 45

in 1920 Ivy Home. Salvation Army. Philadelphia Ward 34, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Margaret aged 12 years born PA. Father born Ireland and Mother Pennsylvania

Could "attaché" be after carer - once the ladies had there babies ?
