Title: searching for Information on Alexander Stewart

Alexander Stewart was farming in the Parish of Kilbride, Isle of Arran I have the 1841 Census and he was farming at South Kiscadale with his wife Margaret and Children Mary,Elizabeth,Marion,Margaret, Alexander. he was 68 years old. trying to go futher back in time to find out if he was born on the Island or not. if anybody can help that would be wonderfull. Marion in the family is part of my husbands Family. have tryed family .    thanks again Celia

Did you mean Archibald rather than Alexander? From 1841 -everyone showing as born in Bute:

Archd Stewart 68 farmer
Margaret Stewart 40
Mary Stewart 16
Elizabeth Stewart 14

Alexander Stewart 2

Hi Monica, wasn't Arran part of Buteshire. Or were they born on the Isle of Bute.

Added: Hi George  :) Yes, Isle of Arran was part of Buteshire. They show in 1851 as born in Kilbride, Buteshire which would be Isle of Arran. The same as their 1841 entry you would say. Buteshire is referred to as Bute on these records.

Archibald Stewart born 22/03/1772 & baptised on 29/03/1772, Rothesay, Bute.
Parents Alexander Stewart & Mary Johnston
