Hi,
Its my first post so please be gentle with me, ;D
I have found some previous posts but not with much information
My grandmother had a child in 1933 at the above address. father is blank on birth certificate
She came from Northamptonshire and returned here after she had the child, she brought her up and got married a few years later to my grandad who was not the father of the child,
Anyone know where I would get records/archives from (I still live in northants so do not know bradford area) and any more information about why my nan would have travelled up here to have the baby (would it have cost her lost of money
thanks in advance

From earlier posts about this address looks like it was a maternity home she was more than likely sent up as she was pregnant outside of marriage.
One of my great aunts was sent from cumbria to yorkshire for the same reasons.
Maybe records are in west yorkshire archives service.....the city library is very limited at moment due to repairs

Thanks Ady will try that,
It just puzzles me as my nan was orphaned and her family apparently lost contact with her when she was 11 so she would not have had any means to pay for this (unless the father of the child had money??) surely she would have just "disappeared" locally for a while to have the baby.

It was sponsored by the Church of England as an unmarried mothers Refuge.
There are snippets of info online
