Good morning
We have an ancestor that worked for Singer Sewing Machines in the early 1900's, we wondered if anyone knows if the records for their staff still exist please and where they would be?
Many thanks
Kind regards

Hi
I also have relatives who worked for Singers and enquired at Clydebank Public Library. It would appear that many records were destroyed when the facory closed and any remaining were removed to the US parent company. Others may have different info.

Hi, No records are available. Thousands were employed at Singers aver the years and there would have been hundreds of books with lists of workers. Saldy nobody thought of keeping such records in those days. The same applied for the thousands who worked in the shipyards on the River Clyde.
I also had relatives who worked in both places. John Mac

I know a lady who worked in the offices at singer and she had quite a high up job and would possibly help you. Send her a message on Facebook her name is Margaret Orr sometimes mags and she might have what you need.
