Title: Millichamp
Post by: Satchwell on Monday 06 May 13 06:01 BST (UK)
Would like to know if Elizabeth Millichamp born circa 1829 Upper Bullington, Herefordshire, who married Henry Francis Froggatt 1856 at Hereford is the sister of Sarah Millichamp born circa 1798 Shropshire.    Any help or suggestions to trace Elizabeth & Sarah & their parents would be much appreciated.

I wonder if this is a christening for Elizabeth (from familysearch)
Elizabeth Millichamp
Christening  23 May 1824
Upper Bullingham, Herefordshire
Father Richard Millichamp
Mother Sarah

There are other christenings for children of Richard and Sarah in this parish up to 1839.
Have you considered that Sarah born 1798 could be Richards wife  ???

Possible marriage for Richard/Sarah also from familysearch  ;)
Richard Millichamp
Sarah Cauldwell
17 May 1823
Bitterley, Shropshire

Elizabeth's marriage cert would confirm her parents but in 1841 and1851 there is an Elizabeth Millichamp living with parents Richard Millichamp b 1875 Bitterley, Shropshire and his wife Sarah  b 1795 Hopton Wafer, Shropshire and family.  Could Sarah have been Elizabeth's aunt?

Edit - I think Rosie99 is correct that the Sarah Millichamp in the census is her mother and listed as this in the 1871 census

Hi Rosie & Kay,
Thank you for your prompt replies.   I think you are correct & I have my generations muddled. Sarah is in fact Elizabeth's mother.   I have found them on the 1871 census at Dewchurch, Hereford.  Elizabeth is married to Henry Francis Froggatt (march qtr 1856 Hereford- freebmd) & Sarah is living with them & named as mother-in-law, also living with the family is *Charles Joseph Vaughan aged 19 (born 24/9/1852 Upper Bullington, Hereford) nephew     I think Sarah born 1824-1829 married Joseph Vaughan March qtr 1851 Hereford. I haven't been able to find Joseph & Sarah Vaughan on the census after their marriage.   *Charles Joseph Vaughan is their son & in 1861 aged 9 was living at Dewchurch, Hereford & described as a stepson, but I haven't established yet who he was living with.

That answers a lot of queries for me. Will check out marriage & death details.  Charles Joseph Vaughan & his wife & 2 children immigrated to NZ.
Kay I really appreciate your help.

Kay, may I ask one more favour.  On the 1851 census I have found Joseph Vaughan, head, aged 29 born Breinton, Hertfordshire & his wife Sarah aged 19 born Upper Billingham.  Can you check it for me & tell me where they were living when the census was taken.
Going back to Sarah Millichamp born 1798 Shropshire I believe her maiden name is Caldwell.  Once more I will check out the birth cert.  Many thanks.

Kay, thats great.  Joseph Vaughan's parent's were Samuel Vaughan & Maria BANTON,  so I guess John Banton will be Maria's brother.   The family is coming together nicely. Many thanks

Cool. I just found this page from googling my ancestors name and place of birth.
I am related to Joseph Vaughan who was mention earlier on this thread. He was my great great great grandfather.
I have info on the Millichamps's, Froggatt's and Vaughans.
