Title: Allen Family in Almer
Post by: Citizen Smith on Wednesday 08 May 13 16:59 BST (UK)
Hi

I'm looking into my 3x Great Grandfather, Michael Allen who was born in Almer, Dorset. His birth is registered in the OPC in 1797, as is his mother (Sarah Parter) and father's(Stephen Allen) marriage in 1780 and births of siblings.

Stephen Allen's birth registered in Almer OPC 1759 to parents Thomas and Martha Allen as well as his siblings.

I can't find a marriage for Thomas and Martha Allen so, either the OPC record is missing or, they married elsewhere.

If anyone is researching same family or has bright ideas as to where else to look, I'd appreciate it.

Sarah

Hi,

A bit of a long shot but there's this:

Thomas Allen married Martha Palmer on 18 April 1743 in Blandford Forum.    :-\

Thanks Nanny Jan - that looks like a possible marriage.  Did you find that in the transcripts mentioned on the Blandford Forum page of Dorset OPC? And does it mention whether either the bride or groom were of that parish or another one at the time of marriage by any chance?

Thanks - I'll keep this in mind as is the closest I've got so far.
