Hi Skoosh
Just checking on your dates....
What is the source for your birth date for George? I think it might be 21 April 1839 - https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XTG7-MRJ
A son called Andrew seems to have been born to this couple on 2 July 1849, so it is not likely that a first born George died and the name re-used in 1849.
Is this the family in 1861:
Andrew Meek 51
Agnes Meek 48
George Meek 22 agr. Lab. b. Old Monkland
John Meek 18
William Meek 16
Kobert Meek 14
Andrew Meek 12
David Meek 9
Margaret Meek 6
Elizabeth Meek 4
Address: Muirdyke, Farms & Cots, Old Monkland

There are these census entries. I am leaving the transcription spellings as they show:
1871:
George Meek 22, Overseer Iron Ston Pets (iron stone pits?) b. Old Monkland...age likely mistranscribed.
Cathren Meek 27 b. Kelsyth, Stirlingshire
Andrew Meek 3
Margreat Dixon 3 Months
Address: Tyggetshough, Dunnipace Stirlingshire
1881, back with mother?:
Agnes Muk 67
George Muk 42 Labourer Iron Works
Elizabeth Muk 24 daughter
Andrew Muk 13 grandson b. Dunnipace, Stirling.
Address: Penders Land, Coatbridge
1891:
George Meck 52, Foundry Furnaceman
Andw Meck 22, iron moulder b. Stirlingshire, Dunipace
Address: 1 Weir St, Coatbridge
Can't easily see George for 1901.

This looks like George in 1871 ....
Living at Tygetshaugh, Dunipace
George Meek, age 22, Overseer – Iron Stone Pits, born c1849, Old Monkland
Catherine Meek, age 27, wife, born c1844, Kilsyth
Andrew Meek, age 3, son, born c1868, Dunipace
Margaret Dixon, age 3 months, boarder, born c1871, Denny
1881 .....
Living at Penders Land, Old Monkland Middle (surname transcribed as ‘Muk’)
Agnes Meek, wife, age 67? (probably age 47), born Cumbernauld
George Meek, age 42, son (probably husband), born c1839, Old Monkland
Elizabeth Meek, daughter, age 24, labourer garden (?), born c1857, Old Monkland
Andrew Meek, age 13, grandson, scholar, born c1868, Dunipace
I think you might have to download the 1881 image to see exactly what it says!

Many thanks for that Monica & Anne, I have his birth as 15 Mar 1849 in the OPR Old Monkland 2/343, recorded yonks ago so could be a mistake. He's a handloom weaver/cutter in the '51 census age 12 so 1839 must be correct. Andrew senior's father was a George Meek also, which makes sense.
I've been following his trail as prizewinner at horticultural, poultry & "doo" shows. From living at Passover which on an old map is in Glenboig, to Denny, where he wins the shooting prize with the Volunteers.
Tyggetshaugh, maybe Targetshaugh, for the shooting?
Why Denny? you forget this was the age of the train and there was a direct connection between the two places.
I tried Freecen and got nothing, nice to see you're on the ball ;D
Bests,
Skoosh.

An old post but wondering if anyone is still interested in Meeks, Stirlingshire?
I've discovered tonight, on one of my own DCs (Death Certs.) this info. as there are 3 entries on DCs...
Death of James Barbour 21 Feb 1962 - 68 yrs - Motor Lorry Driver (Retired) - 59 Windsor Ave, Falkirk...
Married to 1 - Helen Allan Meek
Married to 2 - Mary Allan Meek
Death registered by John F (Wright?) (difficult to read) - Friend - 2 Windsor Gdns, Falkirk
The above I'm assuming to have been sisters although I don't know?
I can forward the DC to anyone interested if you copy/paste link to this page stating you're interested in the DC I have.

Skoosh,
I have no connection to the names I posted, they were extra entries on a DC of my own & thought I'd post for anyone with an interest which I can pass on.

Thanks Annie, I think the Denny Meek's are probably from Old Monkland whose origin was Bathgate? & those in Falkirk are mebbes of the same origin as the Gaelic scholar Prof' Donald Hector Meek who has a Tiree website and whose Meek's originate in Whitburn/Bathgate also, 18th century.
Thanks for this, another stone to the cairn! ;D
